Megyn Kelly weighs in on state of Obamas' marriage

In an outspoken critique on her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, Megyn Kelly sharply rebuked Michelle Obama's recent podcast comments about the challenges of long-term marriage.

Kelly disputed Michelle Obama's perspectives after she described enduring a "bad decade" in her over 30-year marriage to former President Barack Obama, as the Daily Mail reports.

The journalist remarks came after a discussion on her show about a segment from Michelle Obama's podcast, IMO, in which Michelle delved into her marital life amidst swirling rumors.

On her podcast, Michelle candidly spoke about the reality of long marriages, suggesting that a decade of struggle is possible and, in her view, acceptable.

Michelle revealed, "There were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband," highlighting the natural trials that come with long-term commitments. The former first lady has been vocal in countering divorce rumors, stressing that her recent absence from certain public events was a personal choice and not indicative of a failing marriage.

Michelle Obama holds forth

During her podcast, Michelle aimed to set the record straight regarding her and Barack's marriage amid speculation. She addressed false rumors, including an unfounded allegation connecting Barack Obama to actress Jennifer Aniston, emphasizing the impact of such baseless stories.

Barack Obama has openly admitted that his tenure as president of the United States put considerable strain on their marriage.

He disclosed to The Daily Beast that he has recently been making efforts to amend the effects of his demanding role on their relationship.

This marital discourse between the Obamas contrasts sharply with Kelly's views. On her podcast, Kelly bluntly assessed the Obama marriage by stating, "I think she and he married the wrong people." This stark disagreement highlights the diverging views on marriage longevity and success.

Kelly makes key comparison

Kelly not only criticized Michelle Obama's take on marriage but also compared it to her own marital experience. Proudly, she mentioned that in her 17 and a half years of marriage with novelist Douglas Brunt, not a single year felt bad, showcasing a starkly different marital journey.

Adding to the episode's rich dialogue, Maureen Callahan, a columnist for the Daily Mail, also weighed in. She strongly voiced her skepticism about seeking marriage advice from Michelle Obama, questioning the effectiveness of her experiences as guidelines for others.

Kelly's discussion extended beyond marriage, touching upon other topics of public interest and criticism. One such issue was the reaction to a controversial space flight by Blue Origin.

The right-leaning journalist dismissed the celebratory public reaction to the spacecraft's female passengers, comparing their brief journey unfavorably to historical space missions like Apollo 11.

Touching on other recent controversies

Kelly sarcastically remarked on the grandiose manner in which the Blue Origin flight was presented, suggesting it resembled a "sexual fantasy rocket" of Jeff Bezos, rather than a serious scientific endeavor.

This criticism was part of a broader skepticism of the flight's portrayal, which, according to Kelly, was rendered frivolous by the presence of celebrities like the Kardashians at the launch.

Conversely, broadcaster Gayle King defended the flight, emphasizing its importance for inspiring women and girls despite the criticism. She lamented the dismissive tone that trivialized their achievements, marking a clash of perspectives within the media.

Kelly's pointed commentary about Michelle Obama's marriage, her marital satisfaction, and other topical events highlights differing public figures' views on personal and public narratives.

The discussion underscores the complexities of public figures managing personal histories and public expectations simultaneously.
