Comer demands DOJ action on Biden family lies

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer is turning up the heat on the Biden family. The Kentucky Republican is pressing the Department of Justice to hold Hunter and James Biden accountable for what he claims are blatant lies to Congress. It’s a bold move that signals the GOP isn’t letting go of the Biden saga anytime soon.

According to the Washington Examiner, Comer’s push stems from investigations by his Oversight Committee, which allege the Biden brothers misled lawmakers. He appeared on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo to lay out his case, urging the DOJ to act on criminal referrals. The message is clear: actions have consequences, even for the well-connected.

“When it comes to holding people accountable, then that’s going to have to be the Department of Justice,” Comer said. That’s a polite way of saying the DOJ better not sit on its hands. With a five-year statute of limitations on the referrals, Comer’s betting on accountability sticking around through the Trump administration.

Alleged Lies Under Scrutiny

Comer didn’t mince words, calling out Hunter and James Biden for allegedly lying to Congress. He confirmed that such deception is a felony, a point that lands like a gavel in a quiet courtroom. The Oversight Committee is still digging, determined to keep the pressure on.

The referrals Comer mentioned aren’t just symbolic—they carry legal weight. He expressed hope that Pam Bondi, a no-nonsense figure, would take up the cause and make examples of those who fibbed to lawmakers. It’s a classic conservative call for law and order, with a side of political point-scoring.

“Our criminal referrals to the Department of Justice have a 5-year statute of limitations,” Comer noted. He’s playing the long game, ensuring the DOJ has plenty of time to act. The subtext? Don’t expect this issue to vanish quietly into the D.C. swamp.

Biden’s Autopen Raises Eyebrows

House Republicans aren’t stopping at the Biden brothers—they’re also probing former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen for executive orders. Comer claims many of these orders were designed to “Trump-proof” the White House, a sneaky move to lock in progressive policies. It’s the kind of bureaucratic chess that makes conservatives grit their teeth.

If Biden was unaware of what his autopen was signing, Comer argues, those orders could face court challenges. Imagine the irony: a president’s signature, quite literally, becoming his undoing. The GOP smells blood in the water and isn’t shy about it.

The autopen controversy adds another layer to the GOP’s case against Biden’s legacy. It’s not just about policy disagreements—it’s about whether the process itself was above board. For conservatives, it’s a rallying cry against unchecked executive power.

Pardons Spark Outrage

Before leaving office, Joe Biden issued a flurry of pardons, including one for his son Hunter, covering 2014 through December 1, 2024. The move raised eyebrows, with former President Donald Trump calling it a “miscarriage of justice.” That’s a zinger that resonates with anyone who values equal treatment under the law.

Hunter wasn’t the only one pardoned—Biden also extended clemency to Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Rep. Liz Cheney, and several House Jan. 6 committee members. The list reads like a who’s who of progressive darlings, which doesn’t sit well with the MAGA crowd. It’s hard to see this as anything but a parting shot from Biden.

Trump’s “miscarriage of justice” quip cuts deep, framing the pardon as a slap in the face to fairness. For conservatives, it’s evidence of a two-tiered justice system—one for the elite, another for everyone else. The outrage is palpable, and it’s not going away.

Investigation into Pardons Begins

On Tuesday, acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin announced an investigation into Biden’s last-minute pardons. This probe could spell trouble for the former president’s legacy, especially if it uncovers any impropriety. For Comer and his allies, it’s another chance to demand accountability.

The investigation isn’t just about Hunter’s pardon—it’s about the entire batch, including Fauci and Cheney. Republicans argue these pardons were less about mercy and more about protecting political allies. It’s a narrative that plays well with a base fed up with D.C. insiders.

Comer’s crusade, paired with Martin’s probe, keeps the Biden family in the spotlight. For conservatives, it’s a chance to expose what they see as corruption at the highest levels. For everyone else, it’s a reminder that in Washington, the past is never truly past.
