Church security guard fatally stops armed attacker

Gunfire erupted during a Sunday morning church service in Wayne, Michigan, leaving one attacker dead and one innocent bystander injured.

According to Breitbart, A security guard at CrossPointe Community Church shot and killed an alleged active shooter during a service attended by worshippers, avoiding further casualties besides one nonfatal injury.

The incident took place during a regular morning gathering at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne. About 30 minutes into the service, gunshots were heard, causing immediate panic among attendees. The church’s security personnel responded swiftly to the threat.

Authorities later confirmed that a member of the church’s security team shot and killed the suspected attacker during the ordeal. The confrontation ended with no additional lives lost, though one individual was wounded.

The City of Wayne Police Department shared details of the incident on social media. In a statement posted to Facebook, officials said officers arrived at the scene following reports of an active shooter. Upon arrival, they determined the church's security guard had acted to neutralize the threat.

Surveillance Video Captures Chaos Inside the Service

Footage shared by Right Angle News Network documented the unsettling sounds of the event from inside the church. The video captured the sound of gunfire during the worship gathering. It has since circulated online and added confirmation to witness accounts.

Churchgoers described a scene of confusion and fear as the sound of shots rang through the sanctuary. While people began seeking safety, the security guard intervened before the alleged shooter could cause more harm. This response helped prevent further injuries or fatalities.

During the incident, one innocent person was shot in the leg. That individual was reportedly not in grave danger, as no critical injuries were mentioned by authorities. Medical assistance was promptly provided following the confrontation.

Police Confirm Attacker Was Killed by Church Guard

According to the Wayne Police Department’s report, the attacker was killed on site by a security guard employed by the church. Officials described the shooting as taking place during an active threat situation. Response teams secured the area following the attack.

Shortly afterward, the police began their investigation, reviewing evidence from the scene and speaking with witnesses. The crime scene was processed to determine the sequence of events exactly. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the alleged shooter.

The police praised the swift actions of the church's security guard, though they have not publicly identified that individual either. That person is believed to have been part of the safety team on duty during the service. Officials continue to work with church staff to gather more statements.

Church’s Action Sparks Community Reaction

The incident has sparked renewed attention on security in places of worship. CrossPointe Community Church has not yet issued a public statement about the events. However, Sunday’s violent disruption has left members shaken and grateful that more harm was prevented.

Local officials have refrained from speculating on the motive behind the alleged shooter’s actions. Further investigation will focus on the individual’s identity, background, and any connection to the church or its members. Authorities will determine whether the attack was premeditated or spontaneous.

Community members have begun offering support to the injured person and expressing pride in the guard who took action. As details continue to emerge, city leaders have emphasized the importance of preparedness and vigilance even in sacred spaces.

Incident Sparks Broader Safety Discussions

This incident adds to a broader national conversation about safety in public gathering spaces. Churches, in particular, have seen increased attention around the need for trained security. Many communities have considered formal safety plans in response to similar incidents nationwide.

In Wayne, the quick ending of a potentially tragic event has prompted reflection and debate. Some residents are emphasizing the importance of security presence at community events. Others are awaiting full details before concluding the circumstances.

For now, investigators remain at work to fully understand what occurred on Sunday. The church and police alike are focused on healing and transparency. More information will be released as the case develops and all facts are verified.
