Actor Peter-Henry Schroeder, 90, passes away

Peter-Henry Schroeder, a versatile talent who brought characters to life in both Oscar-winning cinema and iconic sci-fi television, has left us at 90. His passing marks the end of a remarkable journey through Hollywood and beyond, leaving a legacy of dedication and service.

According to Deadline, Schroeder passed away peacefully on June 7 at Lake City VA Medical Center in Florida, surrounded by family. His career spanned decades, from military service to memorable roles in films like "Argo" and TV series like "Star Trek: Enterprise."

Born into a different era, Schroeder's early life was shaped by duty as he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Assigned to a unit involved with the USO, he entertained troops before returning home to pursue his passion for performance.

A Soldier Turned Performer

After his military service, Schroeder honed his craft under the guidance of Paula Strasberg, a respected acting coach. This training laid the foundation for a career that would see him share the screen with legends and create his own mark in entertainment.

His talents weren't limited to acting; Schroeder also ventured into music as a recording artist for Capitol Records and Ascot. Singles like "Where’s the Girl for Me" in 1960 and "Memories of Marilyn" in 1964 reflected a personal connection to icons he encountered during his USO days.

In Hollywood, Schroeder built a multifaceted career, founding PHS Productions to spearhead his own projects. He also contributed to the next generation by teaching at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and establishing the Actor/Artist Group Workshop in 1979.

Memorable Roles on Screen

That same year, 1979, saw him acting alongside Meryl Streep and Alan Alda in "The Seduction of Joe Tynan." It was a testament to his ability to hold his own among Hollywood’s elite, carving out a space in political drama.

Fast forward to 2001, Schroeder took on the role of a Klingon Chancellor in a two-episode arc on "Star Trek: Enterprise." This performance endeared him to sci-fi fans, showcasing his range from earthly drama to interstellar intrigue.

More recently, he portrayed a producer in the Academy Award-winning "Argo," a film that celebrated cinematic history and political tension. His role, though not the lead, added depth to a story that resonated with audiences worldwide.

A Patriot’s Final Wish

In his final days at the VA Medical Center in Florida, Schroeder’s spirit remained unbroken as he repeatedly asked when he could return to Los Angeles to work. His drive to create, even at 90, speaks volumes about a man who lived for his craft.

Schroeder will indeed return to L.A., though not as he hoped, but with Military Honors for a final resting place at the VA National Cemetery. A ceremony date is yet to be announced, honoring his service and sacrifice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that condolences be shared through the Human Animal Life Foundation, reflecting Schroeder’s broader care for life. It’s a fitting tribute to a man who gave much to both his country and his art.

Legacy of Family and Service

He leaves behind a loving family, including daughter Valerie Lynn Schroeder and son Peter Henry Schroeder II, with daughter-in-law Felicia Cristiani Bass. His grandsons, Peter Henry Schroeder III and Jarrid Michael Schroeder, carry forward his name and memory.

Reflecting on Schroeder’s life, it’s clear he embodied the grit of a bygone era—serving in war, entertaining through song, and acting with conviction. In a Hollywood often swayed by fleeting trends and progressive narratives, his story reminds us of steadfast commitment over fleeting fame.

Peter-Henry Schroeder’s passing is a loss to both the entertainment world and those who value the quiet heroism of veterans. Yet, his body of work—from Klingon battles to cinematic triumphs—ensures his presence endures on screen and in memory.
