Ex-cop and wife return to battling demons after dreams and threats
A former New York City police officer and his wife have decided to resume their supernatural investigations after stepping away from demonology for nearly a year due to disturbing omens and direct threats to their family.
According to New York Post, Chris and Harmony DeFlorio, a Ronkonkoma-based couple once in public service, say they are returning to spiritual warfare despite dark dreams, chilling messages, and a year-long hiatus sparked by fear for their loved ones.
Chris DeFlorio, 54, served two decades with the NYPD in Harlem's 32nd Precinct before retiring, while his wife, Harmony, 49, left her position as an FDNY EMT due to a lupus diagnosis. The pair have since devoted themselves to demonology, claiming to have worked on nearly 1,000 global paranormal cases since 2019—never accepting payment for their efforts.
Haunting Dreams Sparked Life-Changing Mission
Their work began in earnest after Chris experienced an unsettling dream in 2019. He described being in a hotel room, overpowered by a malevolent figure in a robe, wielding an upside-down cross, which he used to strike Chris multiple times after tearing off his necklace bearing religious symbols.
Adding to the horror of that night vision, a woman and a young girl appeared, issuing threats that if Chris pursued demonology, harm would come to his family. The girl allegedly said, “Do you know what happened to the last person who tried to do what you’re going to do? He’s not here anymore.”
Despite the terrifying nature of the dream, the couple chose to continue their mission. In order to better equip himself, Chris studied the works of well-known Catholic exorcists, including Malachi Martin and Rev. Gabriele Amorth, deepening his knowledge of spiritual warfare.
Renewed Threats and Disturbing Encounters
In 2024, Chris experienced another intense vision involving the same mother and child figures. This time their message was brief but forceful: “We told you to stay away.”
The following day, the DeFlorios were contacted by a Long Island woman who described a violent haunting involving a mirror being flung across a room, nearly striking her two young children. They agreed to visit the house, which proved far more disruptive than expected.
While at the scene, Chris reported hearing the same ominous message whispered directly into his ear. He described the effect as unsettling, saying, “It went right through me.” He also claimed to see supernatural activity surrounding him as he used religious prayers to clear the space.
A Difficult Decision to Walk Away
Although the disturbances at the home eventually ceased, Chris felt deeply shaken. The recurrence of specific figures from his dreams and their apparent connection to real-life events made ignoring the warnings difficult.
Chris considered the welfare of his family, particularly his young grandsons. “I was very upset and worried for my family,” he said, noting that while he wasn't afraid for his own safety, new responsibilities weighed heavily on him now that he had grandchildren.
For the next year, Chris turned down every paranormal request that came his way. “A lot of the calls kept coming in,” he said, “but I kept finding excuses not to go.”
Faith And a Renewed Sense of Purpose
The couple eventually decided they could no longer ignore their calling. Their return to active service coincides with renewed public attention on demonic investigations, thanks in part to the upcoming release of “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” the latest film inspired by real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
“We decided we need to do this. We’re called to do this,” Chris said. He added that his earlier hesitation was human, but that he had forgotten “the God factor.”
Harmony echoed her husband’s resolve, saying they feel their work has a purpose beyond themselves. “We’re just His messengers,” she said, explaining that they rely on prayer and divine protection when assisting those in distress.
Helping Others Triumph Over Darkness
Looking back on their years of demonology, Harmony said the feeling of making a difference has been a major drive behind their efforts. “I felt like we were actually helping people who were victimized,” she said.
While the couple acknowledges the dangers, they believe silence is not an option. “We know we can’t remain silent,” Chris said in reference to both the real-life cases they encounter and the cultural relevance brought about by films like “The Conjuring.”
For now, Chris and Harmony are back on the job—armed with their faith, renewed energy, and an unwavering belief that their spiritual battle is far from over.
