New wave of student revivals brings thousands to faith across Oklahoma and Ohio
Thousands of college students worshipped, prayed, and committed their lives to Christ at large-scale campus events in Oklahoma and Ohio, signaling a growing spiritual movement among young adults.
CBN reported that recent Christian outreach events at the University of Oklahoma and Ohio State University have drawn mass student participation, with public worship, baptism, and testimonies highlighting a continuing wave of campus revival activity through movements like UniteUS and faith-based student leadership.
On Tuesday night, nearly 9,000 students filled the Lloyd Noble Center at the University of Oklahoma to worship and hear messages about faith and purpose. Organized by the national UniteUS movement, the event featured live praise music and an invitation for students to consider a Christian commitment.
UniteUS, which began two years ago at Auburn University, has rapidly gained momentum across college campuses. The organization has reported thousands of students making first-time decisions to follow Christ and hundreds who have chosen to be baptized at these gatherings.
The event in Oklahoma marked one of the largest student-led worship experiences in the state this year. It reflects an intentional effort by Christian movements to engage students early in the academic year when many are reevaluating their beliefs and purpose.
Student Athletes Take the Lead in Ohio Faith Gathering
A similar awakening took place at Ohio State University, where football players organized a separate faith-based event called “An invitation to Jesus.” Gathering more than 1,000 students, the outreach initiative was led by key members of the team who used their sports influence to share their experiences with Christianity.
Players including Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, and Luke Montgomery each spoke openly about their personal faith journeys in front of a packed crowd. Many in attendance responded to the message with visible emotion, and the night ended with spontaneous baptisms as several students chose to publicly affirm their spiritual decisions.
Defensive lineman Julian Goines-Jackson shared a message of purpose beyond athletics, writing in a social media post that football is ultimately about using their influence to talk about their beliefs. “It’s not about the wins or the losses, nor is it about the national championships,” his post read. “It’s about using the platform that the Lord has given us to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
Faith Momentum Builds on Campus After Past Events
This was the second year in a row that Ohio State athletes organized the Fall Kickoff ministry event. Last fall, similar outreach led to what participants called a moment of revival, with many students reportedly responding with personal commitments and baptisms.
That season, Ohio State went on to claim the national championship in college football. While the sports success was celebrated in its own right, many players emphasized their deeper mission of impacting their campus through faith initiatives.
The events in Oklahoma and Ohio are part of a larger trend that organizers hope will continue across the country. UniteUS has set a schedule to bring its ministry to seven additional college campuses throughout the fall of 2025.
UniteUS Plans Events at Seven More Campuses
Over the next few months, UniteUS will host gatherings at universities including South Florida, Tennessee, and Grand Canyon. Each event is expected to follow the same model of music, testimony, and response.
UniteUS leader Jennie Allen spoke about the movement’s purpose and intended impact. “I don’t know if a storm of revival is coming,” she said. “But I do know we could be running from the rain. It sure feels like it is here.”
Allen added that the organization’s goal is to help students take personal responsibility for sharing their faith and changing their environments: “Revival can start with each one of us saying ‘yes’ to the call of God to reach the world right around us.”
Media Highlights Increase Awareness of Student Revival
The significant interest in campus ministry events has caught the attention of Christian media. CBN News recently released a documentary titled “Revival Generation,” which highlights the nationwide surge in student-led Christian engagement.
The documentary is available for streaming or purchase and includes footage from previous UniteUS events, worship moments, conversations with organizers, and personal stories of transformation. The film aims to illustrate the broader scale of the revival movement among college students.
As young adults across the country return to campus, ministry organizers plan to build on the momentum of early-semester events. Across states and student populations, a growing number of undergraduates are seeking spaces where faith and life intersect in powerful ways.
