Annabella Lovas, a 32-year-old Hungarian reality television star and influencer, has been identified as the woman whose body was discovered in a remote ravine in the Canary Islands on March 6, 2025.

The identification came after what authorities described as a year-long investigation, closing a grim chapter that began when Lovas first vanished from a hotel on Gran Canaria in November 2024.

Lovas had been found naked from the waist down, and without personal belongings or identification in Berriel Ravine, a remote hiking location on the island, the Daily Mail reported. Police confirmed her identity through dental records and by matching tattoos on her body to those on her back.

An autopsy ruled out a violent death, strangulation, and sexual assault. But police have not determined a cause of death. According to the Spanish newspaper El Periódico, an autopsy and DNA evidence were inconclusive.

A disappearance in stages

The timeline of Lovas's final months tells a story of someone in crisis, and of the people around her struggling to keep track. Lovas first went missing in November 2024, and her loved ones did not know her whereabouts for two weeks. During that period, she also wiped her social media accounts.

She was eventually found safe in a hotel on the island. Days later, Lovas was reported missing again by her family.

That second disappearance proved to be the last. Her body was recovered months later in a location so treacherous that investigators themselves could not retrace her steps. Police chief Pablo Fernandez Sala told La Provincia that the identification effort was "hard and intense," and described the difficulty of the terrain:

"Colleagues tried to reach the natural pool to reconstruct her last steps and carry out a visible inspection on the ground but it was impossible."

"You would have needed to be a professional climber, not just any hiker, to reach the spot."

With no identification on the body and no witnesses, investigators worked with almost nothing. Sala noted that initially, all they had to go on were "some strange tattoos she had on her shoulder and back."

A theory, but no answers

A police spokesperson offered one possible explanation to El Periódico: "We think she may have died in another area, either from an accident or suicide, and that the floodwaters swept her to El Berriel."

That remains a theory, not a conclusion. The cause of death is still officially undetermined. The inconclusive autopsy and DNA results leave the case in a frustrating limbo: enough evidence to identify who she was, but not enough to establish what happened to her.

This is the kind of story that resists neat resolution. A young woman, alone on a foreign island, disappears twice, erases her digital footprint, and ends up dead in a place even trained investigators couldn't reach on foot. Every detail raises more questions than it answers.

At some point before her disappearance, Lovas moved to Gran Canaria after a battle with cancer, which reportedly affected her mental health.
