Haverford professor charged after posing as MAGA supporter to harass Jewish colleague

A Chinese-born Haverford College religion professor faces federal charges for allegedly sending roughly 50 antisemitic threats to a Jewish colleague while posing as a MAGA supporter online.

Breitbart News reported that Professor Guangtian Ha was arrested and charged with online harassment and intimidation after prosecutors said he used at least four anonymous X accounts to target a Jewish colleague at the Pennsylvania school.

An indictment filed September 30 in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania describes messages spanning roughly October 9, 2025, to May 20, 2026. The posts allegedly mixed slurs, Holocaust references, doxxing, and threats aimed at the colleague and the colleague’s family.

Columnist Steve McGuire wrote on X that Ha had been “posing” as an anonymous “MAGA” supporter while carrying out the campaign. McGuire also identified Ha as a member of Faculty for Justice in Palestine.

Prosecutors outline a months-long online barrage

The New York Post reported that Ha, an assistant professor of religion, faces a cyberstalking count tied to about 50 threatening messages sent from multiple accounts. Alleged texts released through the case file show raw hostility directed at Jews in Lower Merion and at the named colleague.

One message read:

“Jew, get the f*** out of my country.”

Another declared:

“If jews are so special then they should also be placed in special camps and receive special treatments.”

Prosecutors also cited posts that called Jews “blood-sucking demons,” urged readers to “Eliminate the jewish cockroaches,” and promised “a true holocaust.” One warned the colleague to watch the colleague’s minor son “There shall be a sign.” Another sneered that blurring a home on Google Maps and installing a mailbox camera “won’t help.”

The Washington Examiner reported that the FBI tied Ha to the posts, that he is 42, and that he was held at a Pennsylvania detention site on a charge of harassment and intimidation causing fear of death or injury.

Family fled the home twice

McGuire wrote that the target’s wife twice moved out of the house with their three children “because they were so terrified.” The indictment material describes a posted home address, the infant child’s name, and a photo of the family’s mailbox.

Real-time observation language in the messages raised the stakes further. The sender allegedly told the colleague to “run” and “flee,” then mocked the security steps already taken. That is not abstract hate speech. It is alleged conduct that put a spouse and three children on the move.

Campus culture fights keep spilling into national politics, including pressure on elite schools over ideology and safety. Parents watching this case see why trust is eroding.

College places Ha on leave and bars him from campus

Haverford College President Wendy Raymond addressed the allegations in a Tuesday statement. She said Ha had been placed on administrative leave and barred from campus while the criminal process moves forward.

Raymond stated:

“I am deeply distressed by these allegations and want to state in the plainest of terms that any form of harassment or discrimination based on identity is unacceptable, antithetical to our values, and has no place at Haverford.”

She added that the news landed near the Jewish High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Fox News reported a further line from Raymond: she said she was “heartbroken and furious at the possibility that an individual within our community would seek to inflict such pain on another.” Fox also noted Ha had been named in a 2024 antisemitism lawsuit over hostile posts about Israel supporters.

Administrative leave is the minimum step once federal charges land. Taxpayers and tuition-payers still deserve a full accounting of how a professor allegedly spent months running sock-puppet accounts against a colleague without earlier detection.

MAGA costume over Faculty for Justice in Palestine membership

McGuire’s post framed the core deception: anonymous accounts dressed up as MAGA voices while the sender, per McGuire, belonged to Faculty for Justice in Palestine. The alleged messages mixed “Goyim are taking America back” rhetoric with “HH”, widely understood as “Heil Hitler”, and lines such as “Nothing wrong to hate jews” and praise for historical expulsions.

One post said American Jews “have been exposed” and closed with “F*** anti-Zionism. HH.” Another claimed “The end of American jews is close” and targeted “the jews in Lower Merion,” adding a racial slur after “jewish.” These are the words prosecutors put in the indictment narrative.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that Ha also had a longer trail of suspended posts threatening Jews and praising Nazis, widening the picture beyond the single charging period.

Federal scrutiny of hard-left political networks has intensified in other arenas, from tax-exempt status fights involving major activist groups to campus enforcement gaps. A professor allegedly hiding behind Trump-branded avatars to terrorize a Jewish family fits a pattern voters already distrust.

What the record shows so far

Ha teaches religion at Haverford and is originally from China. The public case file excerpts do not spell out a courtroom motive beyond the content of the posts themselves. What they do spell out is volume, repetition, personal targeting, and family-level fear.

Roughly 50 messages. At least four accounts. A posted address and mailbox photo. A child’s name. Holocaust language. A spouse who packed up the kids twice. Those are the concrete claims now sitting in federal court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Haverford’s president condemned identity-based harassment and removed Ha from campus pending the case. That response followed the indictment and the public reporting. It did not prevent the alleged months of messages that came first.

Jewish families near elite campuses have spent the years since October 7 watching administrators issue statements after the fact. This filing puts names, dates, and quoted threats on the record instead of another vague promise to do better.

When a professor allegedly steals the MAGA label to run a private hate campaign, the mask is the point, and the law is finally treating the conduct as seriously as the targets lived it.
