Actor Charged With Attempted Murder Of Girlfriend After Jail Release

Actor Nicholas Pasqual was charged with attempted murder following the brutal stabbing of his girlfriend, days after being released from jail on a domestic violence charge.

According to People magazine, Nicholas Pasqual, a California actor, was first arrested on Saturday, May 18, on serious felony charges encompassing domestic violence directed at his girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, a makeup artist.

The arrest, conducted early in the morning, led to Pasqual's brief detention in a Los Angeles jail.

Court records indicate he was booked into jail at approximately 10:06 a.m. and subsequently released on $50,000 bond by 3:13 p.m. the same day.

Despite his release, tensions escalated dangerously. Just five days later, in a shocking turn of events, Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehorn's residence. Reports confirm the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23.

From Release To a Violent Reunion

The attack on Shehorn was not only sudden but ferocious. She suffered multiple stab wounds across vital areas, including her throat, wrists, chest, and back.

The severity of the attack necessitated 14 hours of intensive life-saving and reconstructive surgery to address her injuries. This gruesome assault led to further legal repercussions for Pasqual.

In light of the attack, Pasqual was charged with one count of attempted murder involving domestic violence with a deadly weapon and one count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed these charges following his arrest after the incident.

Legal and Social Repercussions Following the Attack

The fear induced by the attack led Shehorn to file a restraining order against Pasqual, which she did promptly on Monday, May 20. However, this legal barrier did little to prevent the subsequent violence.

Jed Dornoff, a friend of Shehorn and fellow makeup artist, expressed his disbelief and concern, stating, "As soon as he paid his bail, he came after her."

Reflecting on the situation, Dornoff added, "I’m in shock myself. The way it went down, how it went down — it’s horrifying." These sentiments underline the community's shock and the unexpected nature of the brutal attack.

The case caught the attention of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, who publicly condemned the attack. Gascón described the assault as "heinous" and a "stark member of the dangers of domestic violence."

Attempt To Flee and Subsequent Capture

Pasqual did not appear at his scheduled court appearance on Friday, May 24. Instead, he was captured later at a U.S./Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, a clear indication of his attempt to flee the state following the attack.

This capture was a critical turn in the case, ensuring that Pasqual would face the legal consequences of his actions. He is currently detained, facing charges that may lead to a life sentence if convicted.

Community and Legal System Challenged by Severe Domestic Incident

The incident has sparked a wider discussion about the adequacy of protective measures for victims of domestic violence. The quick escalation from a release to near-lethal violence calls into question the effectiveness of current bail systems and restraining orders in such high-risk domestic situations.

In conclusion, the troubling sequence of events involving actor Nicholas Pasual and his girlfriend, Allie Shehorn, has not only affected their lives but also highlighted significant concerns regarding domestic violence protocols and legal protections for victims.

As the legal proceedings unfold, many are watching closely, hoping for justice and a reevaluation of current protective measures in domestic violence cases.
