Biden era HHS trafficking accusations spark heated cabinet debate

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made waves during his first Trump administration cabinet meeting as the new Health and Human Services Secretary.

According to Breitbart, Kennedy accused the previous Biden administration's HHS of being a "collaborator in child trafficking" and claimed approximately 300,000 children were "lost" during Biden's tenure.

During the Wednesday cabinet meeting, Kennedy expressed gratitude to President Trump for his leadership in the administration's first 100 days. He highlighted significant policy changes, including the planned phase-out of petroleum-based synthetic food dyes from the U.S. food supply.

The announcement specified that all nine synthetic dyes would be eliminated within two years, with the two most harmful variants facing an expedited two-month ban.

HHS Policy Changes Under New Leadership

Kennedy outlined several collaborative efforts with other cabinet members to reform existing policies. His partnership with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins focuses on revising dietary guidelines and modifying the SNAP program to exclude sodas and candy.

Additionally, he's working alongside EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to implement changes to federal fluoride regulations.

The new HHS secretary emphasized his department's commitment to addressing what he described as systemic issues inherited from the previous administration. Kennedy's strong stance against the alleged trafficking operations marks a significant shift in departmental priorities and operational procedures.

These policy changes represent the most substantial overhaul of HHS operations since the transition between administrations. The reforms target multiple aspects of public health and welfare programs, suggesting a comprehensive approach to departmental restructuring.

Whistleblower Allegations From Previous Administration

A November 2024 testimony by HHS whistleblower Tara Lee Rodas revealed disturbing details about the previous administration's handling of unaccompanied migrant children. Rodas stated:

During testimony this month before two subcommittees of the House Homeland Security Committee, Tara Lee Rodas detailed the process by which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) takes custody of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) at the southern border before they are handed over to HHS custody, which then places them with adult sponsors in the U.S. These children were preparing to work grueling overnight shifts in slaughterhouses, restaurants, and factories. Some children may die today in jobs they don't have the knowledge or skills to do in order to repay never-ending debts to their smugglers and traffickers.

Current Administration Investigation Progress

The Trump administration launched investigations into the previous administration's vetting procedures for migrant children in February 2025. Officials expressed particular concern about the approximately 291,000 unaccompanied alien children who entered the U.S. during Biden's presidency.

Investigators are focusing on allegations that inadequate vetting procedures may have exposed these children to exploitation. The investigation encompasses multiple federal agencies and aims to locate missing children and prevent future trafficking incidents.

The administration has implemented new protocols for tracking and monitoring unaccompanied minors. These measures include enhanced verification of sponsor identities and regular follow-up checks on placed children.

Cabinet Meeting Outcomes and Next Steps

During his first cabinet meeting appearance, Kennedy received strong support for his proposed reforms from fellow cabinet members. He laid out a comprehensive timeline for implementing new child protection measures and departmental restructuring.

The administration plans to announce additional safeguards for unaccompanied minors in the coming weeks. These measures will include stricter vetting procedures for potential sponsors and increased monitoring of placed children.

Interagency cooperation remains a key focus, with HHS coordinating closely with the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice to address the complex challenges of child trafficking prevention.

Trump Administration Response to Previous HHS Issues

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has accused the Biden administration's HHS department of facilitating child trafficking operations, claiming that approximately 300,000 children were mishandled during that period.

The allegations emerged during Kennedy's first Trump administration cabinet meeting, where he outlined significant policy changes, including the ban on synthetic food dyes and reforms to various health programs.

The Trump administration has launched comprehensive investigations into these allegations, focusing particularly on the vetting procedures for unaccompanied migrant children. The investigation aims to locate missing children and implement new protective measures to prevent future trafficking incidents while several departmental reforms are already underway under Kennedy's leadership.
