CatholicVote Flags Kamala Harris As Threat To Catholic Beliefs

CatholicVote has recently raised alarms over Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’s policies, which they claim pose significant risks to Catholic values and institutions.

CatholicVote's latest memo outlines their concerns about Kamala Harris, portraying her political stance on abortion as a substantial threat to the Catholic community, WorldNetDaily reported.

On Wednesday, CatholicVote sent out a letter describing their analysis of Harris's policy positions, especially her clear support for abortion rights, as contrary to Catholic teachings. The organization, which focuses on aligning American Catholic values with political engagement, expressed deep reservations over Harris's candidacy through a detailed memorandum distributed to the Catholic community.

Brian Burch, the president of CatholicVote, highlighted in the letter the stark contrasts between the policies pursued by President Trump and Kamala Harris, especially on morally charged issues like abortion. Burch emphasized that the potential consequences of Harris's policies on abortion could be dire, saying these could destroy millions of lives.

Religious Biases Highlighted Among Political Tensions

Amidst these political discussions, Pope Francis also voiced his perspective on September 13. He remarked on the stances of both Kamala Harris and President Donald Trump, noting that each holds positions that could be seen as "against life". He challenged voters to discern the lesser evil, criticizing Harris for her abortion views and Trump for his migrant policies.

CatholicVote's communication stressed that Harris had opposed key bills that would limit abortion practices, including one banning abortions when a fetus can feel pain and another ensuring medical care for babies born alive following an abortion. These positions, according to CatholicVote, represent an extreme stance on abortion that is alarming to many within the Catholic community.

Additionally, Harris drew significant criticism from Catholic Vote for her interactions with a judicial nominee, focusing significantly on his Catholic faith and affiliations with religious organizations like the Knights of Columbus. This questioning was utilized by CatholicVote to illustrate what they believe to be Harris’s animosity towards Catholic principles.

Documented Instances of Unaddressed Violence

The memo released by CatholicVote also cited nearly 300 instances of violence and vandalism against Catholic institutions that have reportedly gone mostly unpunished under the current Biden-Harris administration. This documentation is part of a broader narrative articulated by CatholicVote, painting a picture of negligence and disregard for Catholic communities under Harris's political influence.

Brian Burch’s statements emphasized the broader implications of Harris's policy direction, not only for Catholics but for all Americans who cherish life and moral accountability. He argued that the principles at stake are universal values of human decency, not just religious doctrines restricted to Catholics.

This discourse is part of CatholicVote’s broader effort to educate and mobilize Catholic voters according to their interpretation of moral and ethical guidelines in political participation. Burch described their initiative as an attempt to connect factual political analysis with moral principles guiding conscientious voting in the Catholic community.

Voting Decisions Framed by Moral Concerns

The guidance provided by CatholicVote aims to assist Catholic voters in understanding the moral dimensions of the policies supported by Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The information presented in their memo seeks to influence the decision-making process of voters who prioritize religious teachings in their political choices.

In conclusion, the contention put forth by CatholicVote places significant emphasis on the perceived threats posed by Kamala Harris's candidacy to both the direct interests of the Catholic Church and the broader ethical landscape of American society. Their appeal to voters and church leaders reflects a call to scrutinize political candidates through the lens of both religious conviction and universal moral considerations.
