Charlie Kirk’s widow speaks of faith and legacy after his assassination
Two days after the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah, his wife, Erika Kirk, delivered a powerful public message marked by faith and remembrance.
Breitbart reported that Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10, 2025, during a campus event in Utah, and Erika Kirk addressed the public for the first time on Sept. 12, honoring her husband’s devotion to faith and country.
Kirk, 31, was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University during the initial stop of his “American Comeback Tour.” As the founder of Turning Point USA, he had embarked on this trip to promote his political and cultural vision across the U.S.
Authorities have arrested and identified the suspect in the shooting as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. No further motive has been publicly released as of yet, but the incident has sparked national headlines and widespread reactions.
Erika Kirk, speaking publicly for the first time since her husband’s death, paid tribute to Charlie’s unwavering Christian faith and patriotic values. The event took place just two days after his killing, giving supporters and colleagues their first opportunity to hear from the woman closest to him.
Erika Kirk Shares Emotional Testimony
“Two days ago,” she began, “my husband Charlie went to see the face of his savior and his God.” She recounted that Charlie always wished to be remembered above all for his bravery and religious commitment.
She described one of his final conversations as a heartfelt testimony of his belief in Jesus Christ, which drew emotional responses from those in attendance. Erika emphasized her husband’s conviction that life had spiritual dimensions that could not be ignored.
“Our battle is not simply a political one. Above all, it is spiritual,” she told the crowd. She urged Americans to become part of Bible-centered churches and to remain spiritually aware in these times.
Public and Political Response to the Tragedy
Following the assassination, Kirk’s body was flown back to his home state of Arizona, where it arrived in Phoenix aboard Air Force Two. The military honor guard accompanying the casket was led by Vice President JD Vance.
In the hours following his death, condolences came in from public figures across the political spectrum. On September 11, President Donald Trump announced that Charlie Kirk would posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom—the nation’s highest civilian honor.
President Trump further confirmed he would be attending Kirk’s funeral. The announcement followed an outpouring of tributes recognizing Kirk for shaping a generation of young conservatives through his leadership at Turning Point USA.
A Call to Continue His Mission
Erika Kirk’s emotional address sought to frame her husband’s life through the lens of gratitude and purpose. She described him as devoted not only to political causes but to guiding individuals toward faith.
“Charlie loved his savior with all of his heart, and he wanted every one of you to know him too,” she said. Her speech resonated deeply with his base of young supporters, many of whom regarded Kirk as both a political leader and spiritual example.
“Nobody is ever too young to know the gospel,” she said. “And nobody is ever too old, either. There’s no age limit. I know my husband is still here. He’s watching over us.”
Honoring a Life Cut Short
Erika also addressed listeners as a wife and mother. She reminded attendees that Kirk left behind not only a public legacy, but a personal one: their family, including two young children.
Speaking openly about their shared faith, she urged the audience to continue the work her husband started. She stressed that his death should not lead others to retreat but to step forward and take action.
“He wanted everyone to know that if they confess the Lord Jesus Christ… then they will be saved,” she said, voicing her husband’s enduring message even after his passing.
