Chris Pratt praises God in birthday tribute to son

newChris Pratt took to social media on Aug. 17 with an emotional birthday message for his son Jack that ended with a bold statement of faith.

According to CBN, the actor reflected on the challenges surrounding Jack’s premature birth and credited God for his son’s survival, saying the experience ultimately shaped his spiritual journey.

On what marked Jack’s 13th birthday, Pratt shared a heartfelt post with a series of candid photos. Alongside the memories, he expressed disbelief that his son was now a teenager, writing, “I have a teenager???”

Pratt called Jack “an incredible young man” and said he was proud of the person his son was becoming. He ended the post with a declaration of his Christian faith: “Jesus is King!”

Jack is the firstborn child of Pratt and his former wife, actress Anna Faris. The couple welcomed him in 2012 when Jack arrived approximately seven weeks early, weighing just 3 pounds and 10 ounces.

A Life-Changing Early Fatherhood Experience

Jack’s early arrival was medically complicated, requiring a prolonged stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). During that time, Pratt found himself leaning heavily into his faith as he and Faris navigated the uncertainty of their son’s condition.

In a 2025 interview with The Christian Post, Pratt opened up about the spiritual impact that season of his life had on him. He described the situation as medically challenging, saying, “He had all of these issues going on.”

Pratt recalled turning deeply to prayer during Jack’s hospitalization. “I was in a season of transition spiritually at that time, and didn’t quite fully understand,” he told the outlet. “I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for your grace again.’”

Spiritual Awakening Sparks Lifelong Mission

For Pratt, that moment marked a turning point. He believes his prayers were answered when Jack recovered. “He really saved my son, and that was the moment [my faith] was cemented,” he said. “My heart softened, and my faith hardened.”

In the years following Jack’s recovery, Pratt committed to using his growing influence to share his faith publicly. “That was the moment that I was like, ‘Moving forward, I’m going to give my platform to God,’” he said.

That promise has continued to shape both his public statements and personal convictions. The actor, known for his roles in film franchises like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World,” has often included elements of faith in his speeches and interviews.

Faith, Family, and Public Conviction

Pratt’s vocal Christian beliefs have occasionally sparked polarized reactions, but the actor remains steadfast. In the same interview with The Christian Post, he noted that honoring Jesus is more important to him than public approval or career safety.

“I care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it costs me,” Pratt said. “It could cost me everything, but I don’t care. It’s worth it to me because this is what I’m called to do, it’s where my heart is.”

This commitment remains central to how Pratt shares personal milestones, such as Jack’s birthday, with the world. For him, faith and fatherhood are deeply intertwined.

As Jack enters his teenage years, Pratt continues to celebrate his son's growth through both loving words and expressions of gratitude toward God—an influence that took root in the earliest and most difficult days of parenthood.
