G3 Ministries removes Josh Buice's content after anonymous attacks revealed
Josh Buice’s resignation from G3 Ministries has triggered sweeping changes across several Christian institutions following revelations of a sustained campaign of anonymous defamation.
On May 8, 2025, Buice stepped down as president of G3 Ministries after confessing to using anonymous online accounts for three years to malign various Christian leaders, prompting the cancellation of a major national conference and the removal of his content by multiple organizations, the Christian Post reported.
Buice, who also serves as a pastor and elder at Pray's Mill Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia, admitted to engaging in anonymous online activity that targeted several Christian leaders. His confession led to an internal investigation by the G3 Ministries Board, which ultimately decided to remove all of Buice’s digital content due to the severity of his actions.
According to the board, Buice’s use of false identities on social media, email, and publishing platforms caused significant harm to the organization’s mission. They emphasized the “public and egregious nature” of his conduct when announcing their decision. The investigation confirmed that the slander extended over three years and involved at least four social media accounts, two email addresses, and two Substack blogs.
Conference Canceled Amid Growing Fallout
As a result of these developments, the 2025 G3 National Conference, which was scheduled to take place from September 11 to 13 in Atlanta, was officially canceled. G3 Ministries made the announcement shortly after the resignation and clarification of Buice’s misconduct came to light. The board expressed concern for the scheduled speakers, many of whom had been the targets of Buice’s attacks.
Those slated to speak at the now-canceled event included notable leaders such as John MacArthur, James White, and Virgil Walker. G3 cited the importance of not placing them in the difficult position of speaking at a conference closely tied to someone who had wronged them. The ministry emphasized that while the conference could have continued without Buice, calling it off was the more ethical decision.
Founders Ministries, another Christian organization, also removed all material authored by Buice from their website. Their president, Tom Ascol, and his family were among those hurt by the secret campaign. Founders stated that a considerable amount of Buice’s content was specifically aimed at damaging their organization and leadership.
Investigations Reveal Extent of Secret Activity
The elders of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church detailed significant findings in recent weeks, reporting “irrefutable evidence” that Buice used anonymous accounts to smear not only national leaders but also elders within his church. They deemed his behavior grounds for disqualification from pastoral leadership and stated that a lengthy process of restoration would be necessary.
Reports indicate that two of Buice’s known anonymous accounts were operated on the X platform under the names “Secrets in the Shadows” and “Grant Hawthorne,” as revealed by a user on Facebook. These online personas were used repeatedly to criticize and disparage leaders who had previously partnered with or spoken at G3 events.
In an official statement, the G3 Ministries Board expressed disappointment and grief over the situation. They called for patience and prayer as they work through the implications. The board also committed to handling the situation with biblical values and transparency, ensuring that both the victims and Buice are treated with dignity and care.
Organizational Missions Affected by Scandal
G3 Ministries described its mission as one committed to equipping local churches with sound theological resources. The board explained that in light of Buice’s revealed actions, his past content could no longer align with that vision. They acknowledged the sadness of the decision but believed it to be necessary.
“This will take some time to accomplish,” the board said, referring to the process of removing more than a decade's worth of Buice’s sermons, articles, and video content. However, they stood firm that it would be impossible to fulfill G3’s mission without making a clean break.
The organization acknowledged the disappointment many supporters would feel over the canceled conference and the broader implications of Buice’s departure. However, they reiterated that the well-being of the affected speakers and the overall integrity of the ministry had to come first.
Community Response and Calls for Repentance
Leaders at Founders Ministries echoed similar sentiments of sadness. They stated that while they were hurt by Buice’s conduct, they were also praying for his repentance and healing. They called on the Christian community to support both the wounded and Buice himself during this difficult time.
“We grieve at what he has done,” Founders Ministries said in a statement, adding that they hoped Buice would submit himself to correction and begin a process of restoration. The organization made it clear that this moment would require both accountability and compassion.
G3 and PMBC have both asked for continued prayer from their communities. As they move forward, they have pledged to remain transparent and to pursue what they consider to be a godly approach to both discipline and restoration.
