Intelligence Chiefs Allegedly Blocked Lab Leak Findings From Biden Briefing

A high-stakes conflict emerges between spy chiefs and government scientists over the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the New York Post, intelligence leadership prevented Defense Department and FBI researchers from sharing compelling evidence supporting the lab leak theory during a crucial August 2021 briefing to President Biden.

Three Defense Intelligence Agency scientists from the National Center for Medical Intelligence - John Hardham, Robert Cutlip, and Jean-Paul Chretien - conducted extensive research that strongly indicated COVID-19 originated from a laboratory incident rather than natural transmission.

Their investigation uncovered multiple data points supporting the lab leak theory while finding minimal evidence for natural origin. The findings contradicted public statements from prominent health officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who had dismissed the possibility of leaking the lab as a conspiracy theory.

Critical Evidence Suppressed From Presidential Briefing

The scientists discovered that the COVID-19 virus contained specific features enabling human transmission that matched techniques described in earlier Chinese research.

Their analysis revealed that Wuhan Institute of Virology researchers had received training from U.S. scientists on constructing viruses without leaving traces of engineering. A Chinese military researcher's patent application for a COVID-19 vaccine, filed just weeks after the virus was sequenced, raised additional red flags.

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines's office prevented these crucial findings from reaching President Biden during the August 2021 briefing. The scientists were also forbidden from sharing their research with Congress, even after Senator Chuck Grassley specifically requested the information in March 2021. Additionally, they were blocked from rebutting a controversial paper that had attempted to discredit the lab leak theory.

The intelligence leadership's actions effectively isolated the FBI, which stood alone among U.S. intelligence agencies in concluding that a lab leak was the most probable origin. FBI scientist Jason Bannan and his team, who conducted their own investigation reaching similar conclusions, were notably excluded from the White House briefing.

Wuhan Institute Connections Raise Serious Questions

A source familiar with the investigation revealed that the spike protein region of SARS-CoV-2 closely matched methods detailed in a 2008 paper from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The facility had received U.S. funding for gain-of-function research before the pandemic. Dr. Shi Zhengli's team had learned seamless assembly techniques for coronavirus genomes at a U.S. lab in Galveston, Texas.

The mysterious case of Zhou Yusen, a Chinese military researcher working with the Wuhan Institute, added another layer of intrigue. Zhou applied for a COVID-19 vaccine patent on February 24, 2020, suggesting he had access to the virus sequence months before it was publicly available. His subsequent death from a fall from the institute's roof in May 2020 raised further questions.

Recent whistleblower documents have suggested that certain federal grant documents describing a potential "blueprint" for producing COVID-19-like viruses may have been improperly classified, potentially compromising the intelligence community's investigation.

Current State Of COVID Origins Investigation

The August 2021 briefing to President Biden concluded that the virus was "probably not genetically engineered," reflecting the position of four intelligence agencies and the National Intelligence Council. The CIA and two other agencies maintained neutral positions on the virus's origins.

Since then, the Energy Department has determined with "low confidence" that a lab leak was the most likely explanation.

FBI spokesperson emphasized their agency's consistent position, stating:

The FBI has long assessed that the origin of the COVID pandemic was likely a laboratory incident in Wuhan. FBI agents and analysts studied intelligence and conducted over 200 interviews of more than 80 people since the beginning of the pandemic.

Path Forward In Determining Pandemic Origins

The suppression of key evidence and isolation of dissenting voices has prompted calls for a renewed investigation into COVID-19's origins. Intelligence officials prevented Defense Department and FBI scientists from presenting their findings about the virus's potential laboratory origins to President Biden, fundamentally altering the course of the investigation.

The controversy surrounding the pandemic's origins continues to evolve as new evidence emerges. With over 1.2 million American lives lost to COVID-19, the quest for truth about its origins remains a critical priority for scientific and intelligence communities alike.

The excluded scientists' research and the FBI's isolated stance suggest that a comprehensive review of all available evidence, including previously dismissed findings, may be necessary for a complete understanding of the pandemic's beginnings.
