Matthew Sweet was Hospitalized Following a Stroke On Tour

A cross-country tour featuring power-pop icon Matthew Sweet and popular band Hanson came to an abrupt halt in Toronto. The collaborative performances, which had been mixing Sweet's acoustic trio shows with opening slots for Hanson, faced an unexpected interruption.

According to Fox News, the 60-year-old musician suffered a debilitating stroke on Saturday evening, October 12, while in Toronto.

The medical emergency forced the cancellation of an extensive tour schedule that would have continued through November 16.

Sweet's manager, Russell Carter, confirmed that the artist received immediate medical attention at Toronto Western Hospital, where doctors stabilized his condition. Following initial treatment, Sweet has been transferred to a rehabilitation center in his hometown of Omaha.

The unexpected health crisis has affected both Sweet's opening performances for Hanson and his own headlining shows.

The tour was originally scheduled to conclude with Hanson on November 10 in Los Angeles, followed by Sweet's solo performances through November 16 in Seattle.
