Melania Trump Reflects on Two Recent Assassination Attempts on Former President

In her first television interview in over two years, former First Lady Melania Trump reveals her harrowing experiences following two assassination attempts on her husband, former President Donald Trump.

The exclusive interview, set to air on Thursday morning, offers a rare glimpse into the former First Lady's perspective on the threats against her husband's life.

As reported by Fox News, Mrs. Trump sat down with "Fox & Friends" co-host Ainsley Earhardt to discuss the shocking events of recent months.

During the interview, Mrs. Trump recounts her reactions to both assassination attempts, describing them as "really miracles." She details how she learned about each incident and the emotional toll they took on her and her family.

First Lady's Reaction To Butler Attack

Mrs. Trump vividly recalls the moment she discovered the first assassination attempt, which occurred during a mid-July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. She explains that she wasn't watching the event live but quickly turned to the television upon hearing the news.

In her own words, Mrs. Trump describes the frantic moments following the attack:

I ran to the TV and I [rewound] it and I watched it. I didn't really see [it] live, but maybe, you know, three minutes, a few minutes later. But when I saw it, I, you know, it was only... Nobody really knew yet. Because when you see him on the floor, and you don't know, you don't know what really happened.

The former First Lady's account highlights the confusion and fear that gripped her in those initial moments, not knowing the full extent of the situation or her husband's condition.

Details Of The Butler Assassination Attempt

The incident in Butler involved would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, who fired several shots at the former president from a rooftop approximately 130 yards away. The attack resulted in the tragic death of former Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore and injuries to rallygoers David Dutch and James Copenhaven.

According to reports, the shots grazed Trump's ear before the assailant was neutralized by a counter sniper. The close call underscores the severity of the threat and the efficiency of the security measures in place to protect the former president.

Second Attempt And Secret Service Response

Mrs. Trump was in New York City when she learned of the second assassination attempt on September 15. This incident took place while the former president was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Recounting her response to the second attempt, Mrs. Trump stated:

I saw it on the television and as soon as I saw it on television, I called again, and he was OK because Secret Service were great. The guys that they were, the team, they were fantastic.

Her praise for the Secret Service highlights the critical role played by security personnel in safeguarding the former president's life. The swift and effective response to both threats has been a point of focus in discussions about the incidents.

Ongoing Investigation And Public Hearing

In response to these events, a bipartisan task force has been formed to investigate the assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump. The task force is set to hold its first public hearing on Thursday, coinciding with an interview featuring Mrs. Trump.

The hearing will focus on the security lapses that enabled these close calls involving a former president and current presidential candidate. Mrs. Trump has expressed concerns, particularly regarding why law enforcement failed to apprehend the shooter prior to Trump's speech in Butler.

In a social media post on September 10, she questioned the handling of the situation, stating that there is more to the story and calling for the full truth to be uncovered.

These statements reflect a broader concern about the effectiveness of security measures and the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding both assassination attempts.

Melania Trump's Upcoming Memoir

The interview comes at a significant time for Mrs. Trump, as she prepares for the release of her self-titled memoir, "Melania," set to hit shelves in early October. The book is expected to provide further insights into her experiences as First Lady and her perspective on recent events.

In the lead-up to the book's release, Mrs. Trump has been sharing snippets of information through social media platforms, generating interest in her forthcoming revelations. The timing of the interview and the book release suggests a coordinated effort to share her story with the public.

The former First Lady's candid discussion of these traumatic events offers a unique perspective on the personal impact of political violence. Her description of both incidents as "miracles" underscores the gravity of the situations and the relief felt by the Trump family following each close call. As the investigation continues and more details emerge, Mrs. Trump's account provides a human dimension to a story that has significant implications for political security and public safety in the United States.
