New concerns emerge for Miss Kay Robertson after husband Phil's death

Kay Robertson, known by fans of “Duck Dynasty” as Miss Kay, is battling significant health challenges following the recent death of her husband, Phil Robertson, who passed away at age 79.

Family members say the 77-year-old matriarch is facing emotional and physical hurdles in the wake of losing her partner of six decades to Alzheimer’s disease, USA Today reported.

Phil Robertson died on May 25 following a battle with Alzheimer’s. The loss marks a major turning point for the Robertson family, whose rise to fame came from the long-running A&E reality show that chronicled their lives in Louisiana.

Just days after Phil’s passing, their son Willie Robertson offered a sobering update on Kay’s condition. In an interview published June 1, he described his mother’s state as “not in the best of health” and noted the family is doing what they can to support her.

He added that part of her current state is attributed to mourning, explaining that she lost her husband of 60 years, and that depression has become a serious concern.

Family Reflects On Kay's Earlier Health Struggles

This is not the first time Kay’s health has drawn serious attention. Back in April, her son Jase Robertson revealed during a family podcast that she had suffered a fall that led to an infection and hospitalization.

Jase expressed fear over the severity of the situation, admitting that the incident left the family feeling like “maybe this is it.” His comments painted a concerning picture of her vulnerability even before Phil’s death.

She recovered enough to participate in early episodes of the family’s spinoff series “Duck Dynasty: The Revival,” which launched earlier this year. However, ongoing health setbacks have since limited her involvement in the show.

Missed Events Spark Questions About Health

Kay’s absence from the June 1 premiere celebration of “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” in Monroe, Louisiana, has been widely noticed. Her family confirmed she was not well enough to attend the public gathering.

Willie acknowledged that filming for the new show included some early scenes with his mother. “Mom was on the show at the beginning, so we have some sweet moments with her,” he said of her limited appearances.

Phil, though central to the family’s brand, did not film new episodes for the revived series. Instead, his presence is seen through past footage and flashbacks in the current revival.

Legacy of Phil and Kay Robertson Continues

In 2023, Willie and his wife Korie Robertson produced a biographical film titled “The Blind,” which depicted Phil and Kay’s journey together. The movie portrayed Phil’s early struggles with alcohol and infidelity before he found redemption through his Christian faith.

Following Phil’s passing, Willie noted that streaming demand for “The Blind” surged noticeably. The uptick indicates renewed public interest in the couple’s real-life love story and the television empire they helped build.

The connection between the family’s story and its audience remains strong, even as the reality behind the cameras grows more painful for those closest to the couple.

Parallel Loss Brings Broader Reflection

Separately, the country music world is also mourning a significant loss. Randy White, husband of singer Lorrie Morgan, died from mouth cancer at the age of 72, as announced on June 1.

In a heartfelt tribute, Morgan described her late husband as her "partner, champion, and rock" of 17 years. She expressed devastation at his passing and paid tribute to the love they shared.

While unrelated to the Robertson family, White’s death adds to a wave of loss shared by fans of American entertainment and culture in recent weeks.

Focus Turns to Healing and Recovery

The Robertson family asks for continued support and prayers as Kay confronts this difficult period. Willie reiterated that they are focusing their energy on helping her through the dual burdens of grief and declining health.

Though the family’s television and film projects continue to resonate with audiences, the real-life struggles off-screen illustrate a more somber reality. Viewers familiar with their faith-filled journey may see this latest chapter as another test of the family’s resilience.

As the family mourns Phil’s death and navigates Kay’s decline, their collective legacy remains tied to the themes of perseverance, faith, and familial support that first brought them to national attention.
