Pastor Ben Stuart Calls for Hope Over Shame at Passion 2025

At the Passion 2025 conference, Pastor Ben Stuart inspired attendees with a powerful sermon about overcoming shame and embracing a future filled with hope and purpose. His discourse, based on the story of Peter’s redemption, resonated strongly with the young adult audience.

In his sermon at Passion 2025, Pastor Ben Stuart of Passion City Church illustrated the transformative power of Jesus' grace, urging the audience to reclaim their futures from the shadows of past missteps, The Christian Post reported.

Passion 2025: A Gathering of Faith and Worship

The Passion 2025 conference, held in two sessions from January 2-4 and January 6-8, drew attendees from around the globe, eager to deepen their faith and interact with prominent Christian speakers. This year's theme, "For His Renown," set the tone for a series of impactful sermons and worship sessions.

A lineup of noted speakers, including Louie Giglio, Sadie Robertson Huff, Jackie Hill Perry, and Jonathan Pokluda, shared messages of faith, challenge, and encouragement. Worship sessions led by acclaimed artists like Brooke Ligertwood, Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, KB, and Passion Music elevated the spiritual ambiance of the event.

The Passion Movement, founded in 1995, has a long-standing history of impacting global youth. With more than $18 million contributed to 70 partner organizations worldwide, its influence extends beyond mere conferences.

Emphasizing Redemption and Restoration

Pastor Ben Stuart focused his message on the concept of redemption through the Biblical narrative of Peter’s restoration in John 21. Stuart described Peter’s return to fishing after Jesus’ crucifixion and how Jesus reconnected with him in a poignant seaside reunion.

Stuart highlighted the symbolic significance of the charcoal fire at this meeting, which mirrored the fire at which Peter had previously denied knowing Jesus three times. This parallel underscored Jesus' intent not to condemn, but to heal and restore Peter.

By recounting this narrative, Stuart drew parallels to the lives of modern believers, emphasizing that Jesus’ approach is one of restoration and connection, rather than rebuke and alienation.

The Role of Shame in Paralyzing Believers

During his sermon, Stuart discussed how shame can paralyze individuals, holding them back from fulfilling their potential. He used the story of a person, once active in faith-based organizations like Young Life, who felt lost and despondent about his current estrangement from his faith.

"The enemy wants to steal your future by reminding you of the sins of your past," Stuart articulated, stressing that Jesus’s response to our failures is not punishment but healing and renewal.

He conveyed that Jesus doesn’t revisit our failings to induce shame but to reaffirm His commitment to our journey and mission. “He recreates the moment of connection,” said Stuart, highlighting Jesus's consistent message of hope and inclusion.

Call to Mission: "Feed My Sheep"

The climax of Stuart’s sermon pivoted on Jesus’s directive to Peter, “Feed my sheep,” which he presented not merely as a command to Peter but as a universal call to all believers. This metaphorical instruction represents Jesus' enjoinder to his followers to tend to others and spread His teachings.

This charge was contextualized in the lives of the conference attendees, where Stuart implored them to look beyond their immediate circles and address the needs of the broader community. “There are sheep who are suffering,” he noted, emphasizing the vast need for compassion and action among believers.

The message concluded with a rousing call to reject passivity. “Don’t retreat. Throw yourself into the sea like Peter and swim toward Him,” Stuart exhorted, urging his listeners to meet Jesus’ ever-present grace with boldness and zeal.

A Message of Grace and Mission for All

Stuart's sermon effectively reaffirmed the core message of the Passion 2025 conference—each individual’s capacity to overcome their past and engage passionately with their faith and community. Through the tale of Peter’s restoration, he illustrated the perpetual availability of Jesus’ grace, no matter the depth of one's previous betrayals or sins.

The moral of his message was clear: embrace your past errors, not as anchors but as stepping stones to a more engaged and fulfilling execution of Jesus’ mission of care and evangelism. This framework not only challenges but also empowers the youth to rise above their inhibitions to fulfill their divine destinies.

As Passion 2025 concluded, attendees left enriched and inspired, carrying with them the enduring message of hope, mission, and a future unshackled by shame.
