RFK Jr. begs for Secret Service help after stalker invades his home grounds

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., once a Democrat and now an independent presidential candidate, has urgently called on the Biden administration to provide Secret Service protection following a concerning breach at his residence.

Kennedy Jr. recently made a plea to the Biden administration. He's seeking Secret Service protection after an alleged stalker trespassed on his Los Angeles property not once, but twice in a single day.

This alarming incident, along with his vocal opposition to the Democratic Party establishment, has made him a notable figure in the current political landscape.

Previous requests for protection denied

It's worth noting that Kennedy had previously approached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas with two requests for protection.

Both were denied. His campaign has now intensified its efforts, emphasizing that for over half a century, every presidential administration has granted early protection to candidates who sought it, with the Biden administration being the only exception.

The campaign shared a letter highlighting the imminent release of the trespasser, identified as Jonathan Macht. This release poses a significant threat, as it means three individuals, all of whom have previously approached Kennedy in a concerning manner, will be free to potentially continue their efforts.

However, it's essential to understand that not all primary candidates receive Secret Service protection. The Department of Homeland Security, in collaboration with a congressional advisory committee, makes this decision. The Secret Service itself doesn't have the final say in these matters.

Kennedy's political journey and potential impact

Kennedy Jr. initially began his political journey as a Democrat. However, he later decided to run as an independent. While many view his chances of winning the presidency as slim, he's seen as a potential disruptor in the upcoming general election.

Interestingly, recent polls suggest that Kennedy, known for his anti-vaccine stance, might draw more votes away from former President Donald Trump than from Biden, Yahoo News reported.

His controversial views have garnered significant attention, especially from conservatives. This attention, combined with his vocal opposition to the establishment, has positioned him as a unique figure in the current political climate.

Regarding the recent security breach, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a 28-year-old man trespassed on Kennedy's property twice in one day. The individual was initially handed an emergency protective order and released. However, after returning to the property, he was arrested for violating said order.

Security concerns heighten for Kennedy

Kennedy's campaign stated that during both incidents, the trespasser managed to climb a fence at the candidate's residence. Fortunately, the candidate's private security company detained him. It's also worth noting that Kennedy was present at his home during both incidents.

This isn't the first time Kennedy's security has been compromised. Just over a month ago, an armed individual, who falsely claimed to be a federal officer, was arrested at one of Kennedy's campaign events. Given these repeated threats, it's understandable why Kennedy is pressing for Secret Service protection.

Historically, the Kennedy family has faced tragic security breaches. Both Kennedy's uncle, former President John F. Kennedy, and his father, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, were assassinated. This history further underscores the importance of ensuring Kennedy's safety.

Secret Service's stance on protection

The campaign has been proactive in its efforts to secure protection for Kennedy. They were already aware of the recent trespasser, describing him as an "obsessed individual." They had previously alerted the Secret Service about him and shared concerning communications he had sent to Kennedy.

Despite these efforts, a law enforcement official stated that the Secret Service doesn't monitor individuals it isn't actively protecting. When protection requests are made, the service conducts an assessment. However, once this assessment is complete, monitoring ceases. At the time of the recent incidents, Kennedy was not under assessment.

It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will respond to Kennedy's urgent plea for protection, especially given the heightened concerns surrounding his safety.
