Rogan says Harris could have handled long-ranging podcast chat during campaign

Joe Rogan just threw a curveball by defending Kamala Harris’ ability to handle a marathon podcast session.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan sparred with guest James McCann over whether Harris could endure a three-hour, no-holds-barred interview, while also shedding light on the reason why she never appeared on his show during the 2024 presidential campaign, as Fox News reports.

For hardworking taxpayers footing the bill for political campaigns, this saga raises real questions about transparency and accountability. If a candidate dodges unscripted, long-form discussions, it risks leaving voters in the dark, potentially costing millions in misinformed policy decisions down the line. Conservatives, especially those skeptical of polished media narratives, aren’t about to let any politician off the hook without a thorough grilling.

Rogan and McCann Clash Over Harris

The conversation kicked off with a nod to Donald Trump’s blockbuster three-hour sit-down on Rogan’s podcast in October 2024. McCann argued Harris wouldn’t have lasted in a similar format, pointing to her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as proof she struggles without a tight script.

“He was able to talk for three hours. Whereas Kamala wouldn’t do it,” McCann quipped. But conservatives know a soundbite isn’t the full story—performance under pressure matters, and dodging tough formats only fuels distrust.

Rogan pushed back hard, insisting Harris could’ve handled it. “Well, she could have — she could have done it. I’m telling you, man. It would’ve been fine,” Rogan countered. While it’s noble to give her the benefit of the doubt, many on the right wonder if this is just Rogan playing nice or if he truly believes she’d survive unfiltered scrutiny.

Why Long-Form Interviews Matter

Rogan didn’t stop at defending Harris—he took a swipe at televised interviews, arguing they’re useless for real dialogue. With live audiences and commercial breaks, depth gets sacrificed for ratings. For voters craving substance over soundbites, this hits home.

He painted a picture of what he’d ask Harris, from regrets in office to the murky role of money in politics. It’s the kind of conversation conservatives demand—unpacking whether leaders are swayed by corporate cash or genuine principle.

Yet, McCann’s skepticism lingers for many on the right. If Harris stumbled on late-night TV, could she really navigate Rogan’s no-filter zone? That’s the million-dollar question for anyone tired of rehearsed talking points.

Failed Talks With Harris’ Team

Behind the scenes, Rogan’s team negotiated with Harris’ campaign for an interview during the 2024 race, but it never materialized. Rogan later claimed on his show in February 2025 that her team got cold feet and backed out.

Harris’ camp fired back, alleging Rogan’s team imposed tough demands on scheduling and conditions, as detailed in the book "Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House." Rogan has consistently rejected this, pinning the blame on her team’s hesitance. For conservatives, this smells like a dodge—why fear a conversation if you’ve got nothing to hide?

Interestingly, Rogan clarified he wouldn’t have voted for Harris but had no plans to ambush her. While some might appreciate the fairness, others on the right argue candidates must face tough crowds, not just friendly chats, to prove their mettle.

What Could Have Been Discussed

Rogan mused about digging into Harris’ vice-presidential challenges and the influence of big money in decision-making. For populist conservatives, these are bread-and-butter issues—how much do donors pull the strings behind closed doors?

Trump’s relaxed podcast appearances, including Rogan’s, are widely seen as a game-changer, connecting with voters in ways traditional media can’t.

Harris missing this boat might’ve cost her a chance to show depth beyond the progressive agenda. Until she steps into the unscripted ring, doubts will persist among those who value straight talk over polished optics.
