'The Voice' Champion Sundance Head Credits Divine Help After Shooting Incident

In a harrowing incident that could have ended fatally, country singer Sundance Head, known for winning the eleventh season of “The Voice,” was injured during a hunting trip in Texas.

According to The Christian Post, in Texas, singer Sundance Head was accidentally shot with his gun during a solo hunting expedition, attributing his survival to divine intervention and rapid medical assistance.

Sundance Head embarked on a hunting trip alone on November 15, aiming for a quiet day in the wilderness. Tragically, while getting into his Jeep, his .22-caliber revolver, carried in a quick-draw style holster without a safety strap, fell and discharged as it hit the doorjamb.

The bullet struck the Head in the stomach, fortunately lodging in a non-vital area filled with fatty tissue rather than penetrating deeper into vital organs.

Immediately recognizing the severity of his injuries, Head stumbled to nearby Highway 84, seeking help. A passing driver stopped to assist, providing first aid and calling for emergency services. Head was soon airlifted to the University of Texas at Tyler for medical treatment.

Sundance Head Calls Incident A Brush With Death

"I was sure I was going to die," said Head, recalling the moment his life hung in balance. He described the shooting as one of the fastest, most shocking events of his life. Despite the intense situation, the singer found a moment of peace through prayer, convinced he was facing his final moments.

"I saw the light, man, and I thought I was dying," Head recounted in an interview with ET Online and on a social media video. Relief washed over him when the first responders arrived, ensuring prompt medical intervention that likely saved his life.

As Sundance Head was rushed to the hospital, his wife, Misty, took to Facebook urging their community for prayers. "Prayer warriors, we need y'all," she posted, fear and hope mingling in her request for divine support.

Community and Faith Highlighted in Recovery

The community's response to Head's accident was immediate and supportive. "I want to thank everyone for praying for me and my family," Sundance said. Grateful for a second chance at life, he expressed overwhelming gratitude towards those who assisted him during those critical moments.

Misty updated friends and followers on Facebook, sharing her relief and gratitude towards the Good Samaritan and medical staff whose quick actions played a crucial role. "Any higher or lower would have been devastating," she explained about the bullet's location in Sundance's stomach. "God is awesome," she declared, a testament to her relief and the miraculous nature of her husband's survival.

"He was like an angel from heaven," said Sundance about the individual who stopped to help him on the highway. The singer's voice carried a mix of incredulity and profound thankfulness for the stranger's timely intervention.

An Unexpected Turn During A Routine Hunt

The singer pointed out that the accident happened swiftly, with no time to react. "It happened that fast," he reiterated. In the chaos, as he reached for his phone to call for help, he realized the severity of his condition noticing his pockets were already soaked with blood.

Reflecting on the events, Sundance remains puzzled over the mechanics of the accident. "I don't know what happened still," he admitted, struggling to piece together how a routine hunting trip nearly turned deadly.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of firearm safety, particularly the use of appropriate holsters and handling. Sundance Head's story, while unique in its details, underscores a universal truth about the unpredictability of life and the thin line between routine activities and unforeseen disasters.
