Trump declares U.S. control over Venezuela after Maduro arrest

President Donald Trump has boldly stepped into the chaos of Venezuela, announcing that the United States now holds the reins of the troubled nation following the arrest of Nicolás Maduro.

Trump made this stunning revelation during a press gaggle, asserting "we're in charge" when pressed on who governs Venezuela after a U.S. military operation nabbed Maduro early Saturday, as reported by Fox News.

His words cut through the fog of uncertainty about the country’s leadership. When a reporter pushed for clarity, Trump doubled down with a blunt, "It means we’re in charge."

Rebuilding a Shattered Nation Takes Priority

Trump painted a grim picture of Venezuela as a failed state, arguing it’s nowhere near ready for democratic elections. He insisted the focus must be on reviving a country gutted by years of catastrophic mismanagement.

The plan, as he laid it out, hinges on restoring Venezuela’s oil industry, once a powerhouse now left to rot. American oil companies, not taxpayers, will foot the bill for this massive reconstruction, Trump emphasized.

He didn’t shy away from the theft narrative, claiming, "They stole our property. It was the greatest theft in the history of America."

Delayed Elections and Direct Oversight

Elections won’t happen until stability returns, according to Trump’s vision for Venezuela. Rushing a vote in a broken system, he argued, would only repeat past disasters.

The U.S. will oversee every step, from curbing inflation to repairing decayed infrastructure. "We’re going to run everything," Trump declared with unshakable confidence.

His approach sidesteps any notion of premature democracy in favor of a controlled recovery. This, he suggested, ensures the process won’t collapse under its own weight.

Broader Security and Historical Precedent

Trump rejected accusations that this move is purely about oil or regime change, framing it as a security imperative. He tied the intervention to the Monroe Doctrine, calling it a vital principle for peace in our hemisphere.

"It’s about peace on Earth," he stated firmly. Past presidents, he added, lost sight of this doctrine, but his administration has brought it back to the forefront.

Questions about coordination with Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez surfaced, but Trump clarified he hasn’t spoken to her directly. Still, he hinted at active collaboration between U.S. officials and the new leadership.

Caring for Displaced Venezuelans and Beyond

Trump’s strategy extends beyond borders, promising to support Venezuelans displaced by economic ruin, including those in the U.S. "We’re going to take care of the people," he affirmed, signaling a humanitarian angle to this bold policy.

His gaze also turned to wider regional threats, with a sharp warning about Colombia’s leadership and drug trafficking issues. "He’s not going to be doing it very long," Trump said of Colombia’s president, hinting at potential future action.

Even Iran’s unrest drew his attention, with a stern promise to monitor any violence against protesters. If they start killing, Trump warned, "they’re going to get hit very hard by the United States."
