Trump launches 'America Prays' faith campaign ahead of nation's 250th anniversary

President Donald Trump unveiled a national prayer initiative Tuesday at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., aiming to rally Americans around shared faith values as the country nears its 250th anniversary.

According to Fox News, the new effort, titled "America Prays," asks citizens to join in weekly group prayers focused on the nation's prosperity, unity, and moral direction as part of the broader America250 campaign launched earlier this year.

Speaking before faith leaders and supporters, Trump announced the launch of “America Prays,” a weekly initiative that urges Americans to come together in groups of at least 10 participants to pray for the future of the United States. The museum setting underscored the spiritual context of the campaign, which places religion at the center of the country's civic life.

The launch marks another step in the America250 project, initiated by Trump at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in July. The yearlong campaign is intended to celebrate the United States' 250 years of independence in 2026. Through this, the former president continues to link patriotism directly with expressions of faith.

White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers characterized the initiative as a return to the nation's founding ideals. She said Trump had "revived one of America’s most prominent and powerful founding principles" by calling for prayer as a regular national practice.

Faith Leaders Back National Revival of Prayer

Rogers added that the initiative is not only a celebration of history but also a call to collective action. “As we approach the 250th anniversary of the greatest country in the world, President Trump invites Americans to pray for our nation and for our people,” she stated. “America is stronger with the power of prayer.”

Trump's remarks echoed that sentiment, reinforcing the theme that spiritual foundations will help guide the country as it charts its future. “This has always been a country sustained and strengthened by prayer,” he said. “If we bring religion back stronger, you’re going to see everything get better.”

He urged communities of faith to come together weekly to seek divine guidance. Trump emphasized that prayer was a key factor in the nation’s enduring strength and advocated a recommitment to religious practice as a unifying force.

Religious Organizations Express Strong Support

Several high-profile religious organizations and faith-based platforms have formally endorsed the initiative. Among them are Samaritan’s Purse, the National Religious Broadcasters, Pray.com, Hallow, and the Faith and Freedom Coalition. Churches and ministries across the country have also pledged their support.

Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, framed the movement in spiritual terms. “Our greatest battles are fought on our knees,” he said. “Through America Prays, we can join together to ask God to guide and protect this land.”

Pastor Clint Pressley of the Southern Baptist Convention described public prayer as a declaration of reliance on divine wisdom. He said it represents a broader testimony to the belief that the nation’s strength relies on a higher power.

Spiritual Purpose Linked to Civic Milestone

The connection between prayer and national identity is a key message of the initiative. Organizers hope that by encouraging collective prayer, the campaign will inspire greater civic unity in the lead-up to the nation's 250th birthday.

In launching “America Prays,” Trump again emphasized a vision of the United States as a nation rooted in spirituality and dependent on religious conviction for its future success. “Let us rededicate ourselves to one nation under God," he said.

The campaign is structured to promote localized efforts, encouraging churches and prayer circles to form organically in communities across the country. The ultimate goal is to establish a renewed spiritual engagement by July 4, 2026, the day marking America’s 250th Independence Day.

Upcoming Remarks on Religious Liberty

As part of his continuing engagement with issues of faith and public policy, Trump is also scheduled to speak further at the Museum of the Bible. His next appearance will focus on religious liberty in the American education system.

The upcoming address is expected to highlight the role religious values play in schools and may outline proposals related to preserving faith-based expression within the education sector.

“America Prays” now stands as a central plank in Trump’s broader America250 initiative, signaling a sustained effort to place spiritual revival at the heart of the nation’s milestone celebration.
