Trump supporter arrested at rally visits Mar-a-Lago

A California man who faced allegations of planning to assassinate President Donald Trump at a campaign rally made an unexpected appearance at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

According to Newsweek, Vem Miller attended a "Celebrate American Exceptionalism" event at Trump's Palm Beach estate on February 18, just four months after his arrest on gun charges near a Trump rally in Coachella Valley.

Miller's presence at Mar-a-Lago comes amid his ongoing $100 million defamation lawsuit against Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who claimed deputies had "probably stopped another assassination attempt" by arresting Miller in October 2024.

The FBI and Secret Service had previously stated that Trump's life was never in danger during the Coachella Valley event.

Controversial arrest sparks legal battle

Riverside County sheriff's deputies detained Miller at a checkpoint approximately one mile from the October rally location after discovering weapons in his vehicle. Law enforcement allegedly found a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine during the search.

Despite the weapons discovery, Miller maintains his innocence regarding any assassination plans. He attended the rally as both a supporter and member of the media through his America Happens Network, which he founded in 2007.

The incident took an unexpected turn when Sheriff Bianco made public statements suggesting Miller intended to harm the president. These claims now form the basis of Miller's defamation lawsuit.

Media entrepreneur fights assassination claims

Miller's media background includes founding the America Happens Network and hosting a podcast called "Blood Money." His network operates under the motto "Rage against mainstream media" and focuses on topics mainstream outlets allegedly avoid.

Sheriff Bianco told Southern California News Group about stopping what he believed was an assassination attempt. He later made similar statements to The Epoch Times but subsequently retracted some claims, acknowledging he had received "bad information."

Miller's lawsuit alleges Bianco deliberately promoted false assassination theories to enhance his public profile ahead of his recently announced campaign for California governor in 2026.

Mar-a-Lago appearance validates innocence claims

Miller addressed his Mar-a-Lago visit during an interview with Newsweek. The media entrepreneur emphasized how his presence at the exclusive event demonstrates the baselessness of earlier accusations:

The biggest thing that shocks people at this point is that just a month ago, I was at Mar-a-Lago, like 5 to 10 feet away from the president with a full security clearance. I was in these private rooms with these individuals having zero security issue in getting in.

Images and video evidence confirm Miller's attendance at the February event, where he joined other notable guests including actor Russell Brand and boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Sheriff defends stance amid political aspirations

When questioned about his statements during an October 2024 press conference, Sheriff Bianco defended his position regarding Miller's arrest:

If we are that politically lost that we have lost sight of common sense and reality and reason—that we can't say, 'Holy crap, why'd he show up with all that stuff and loaded guns?'—and I am going to be accused of being dramatic? We have a serious, serious problem in this country. Because this is common sense and reason.

Miller's legal team argues these statements exemplify Bianco's "outrageous, reckless disregard" for their client's rights and reputation. The lawsuit specifically points to Bianco's political ambitions as motivation for his controversial claims.

Legal proceedings continue as damage claims mount

Miller pleaded not guilty to two counts of carrying a loaded firearm in public in January. His legal team expects one charge to be dismissed since authorities acknowledge the shotgun was unloaded during his arrest.

The defamation lawsuit details severe consequences Miller has faced, including destroyed work opportunities, threats forcing him into hiding, and his parents' home being raided by Las Vegas police. Additionally, Miller claims these allegations have prevented him from seeing his children.

Aftermath of controversial arrest continues

Vem Miller's arrest near a Trump campaign rally in Coachella Valley sparked a complex legal battle with far-reaching consequences. The media entrepreneur now seeks $100 million in damages from Sheriff Chad Bianco through a defamation lawsuit, claiming the sheriff's assassination plot allegations severely impacted his personal and professional life.

Miller's attendance at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, combined with his not-guilty plea to weapons charges, adds another layer to this ongoing controversy. As Bianco launches his campaign for California governor, the legal proceedings continue to highlight tensions between law enforcement accountability and political ambitions.
