President Responds to Anti-Christian Violence

In his Truth Social statement, the president declared, “Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria…”

Though the specific nature or scale of the strike was not disclosed, Trump characterized it as deadly and promised more action if Christians continued to be harmed.

Action Follows Earlier Warnings to ISIS

Trump emphasized that the move was not spontaneous, but a consequence of repeated warnings to the terror organization. “I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was,” he wrote.

This operation builds on prior U.S. pressure on Nigeria. Earlier in December, the State Department imposed visa bans on individuals tied to religious or ethnic violence.

While casualty numbers from the strikes remain unknown, the significance lies in the show of force from a president making clear the U.S. position on global religious persecution.

Support from U.S. Defense Officials

War Secretary Pete Hegseth applauded the Nigerian government’s cooperation, calling it a “supportive partner” in the mission. Hegseth also backed Trump’s decision, stressing America’s readiness to strike at threats wherever they arise.

“The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight – on Christmas,” Hegseth posted on X, underlining the symbolic and tactical timing of the strike.

In his comments, Hegseth also reaffirmed the administration’s moral stance, stating, “The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.”

Sending a Clear Global Message

With the world watching, Trump used the occasion to deliver a direct warning to religious extremists. His post included a sharply worded message: “May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”

While blunt, the message was unmistakable: attacks on Christians will not go unanswered under his leadership. Whether the international community likes it or not, this administration is not in the business of empty rhetoric.
