Vance’s old Epstein tweets stir controversy

JD Vance, now Vice President, finds himself in hot water over resurfaced social media posts about a supposed Jeffrey Epstein client list. His past demands for transparency clash sharply with the Trump administration's recent stance.

According to DailyMail.com, Vance has spent years publicly insisting that a list of Epstein’s clients exists and should be released. The administration's sudden claim that no such list exists has ignited fury among even the most steadfast MAGA supporters.

This is more than a simple mistake. It's a clear contradiction from someone now supporting the same secrecy he previously criticized. In 2021, Vance posted on X, "What possible interest would the US government have in keeping Epstein's clients secret? Oh..."

From Critic to Defender: Vance’s Shift

That biting skepticism from Vance now feels like ancient history as he stands by Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi. His recent comment to podcaster Theo Von, “Donald Trump didn't do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein,” rings hollow against his earlier firebrand posts.

Those old tweets, unearthed by DailyMail.com, show Vance pushing hard for accountability, even shaming journalists for not pressing the issue. He once snapped, “If you're a journalist and you're not asking questions about this case you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Yet today, as critics on X mock him with quips like “Still thinking about it JD?” he seems content to toe the administration line. The pivot from outsider critic to insider loyalist raises questions about whether principle or politics drives his current silence.

Broken Promises Fuel MAGA Frustration

The core of the outrage lies in a campaign promise that appears shattered. Bondi had assured supporters months ago that the client list was “on her desk,” only for the administration to later deny its existence.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to clean up the mess, claiming Bondi meant all Epstein-related paperwork, not a specific list. But for many loyalists, this feels like a bait-and-switch that erodes trust in the “Make America Safe Again” agenda.

Even conservative heavyweight Tucker Carlson has weighed in, alleging on his podcast that Bondi is shielding intelligence community figures tied to Epstein’s crimes. His blunt charge that “the current DOJ under Pam Bondi is covering up crimes” only deepens the sense of betrayal among the base.

Epstein’s Shadow Lingers Over Justice

The Epstein case itself remains a dark stain, with the disgraced financier taking his own life in prison while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell continues to serve a 20-year sentence for her role in the horrific crimes.

Despite the gravity of these offenses, the Department of Justice has signaled no further targets in the investigation, a decision revealed in a recent unsigned memo. For many, this closure without broader accountability feels like justice half-delivered.

Earlier attempts at transparency, like Bondi’s release of a binder of documents in February, fell flat when it contained little new information. The so-called “phase one” of disclosures became just another symbol of promises unkept.

A Trust Deficit in the Making

Vance’s own words from September 2021 haunt this debacle, when he wrote, “Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring?” That raw frustration captured a public hunger for truth that now seems ignored by the very leaders who fanned it.

The administration’s dismissive tone, exemplified by Trump’s rebuke of a reporter with “Are people still talking about this creep?” only fuels perceptions of evasion. For a movement built on draining swamps, this looks more like wading deeper into the murk.

Ultimately, the Epstein saga exposes a rift between rhetoric and reality that even staunch supporters can’t overlook. If trust is the currency of leadership, the handling of this case risks leaving the MAGA faithful feeling shortchanged, wondering if the fight for transparency was ever meant to be won.
