Watchdog Questions Biden's Role In Climate Orders, Seeks Probe

Who’s running the show? A pro-energy watchdog is sounding the alarm over eight Biden administration climate orders, alleging they were signed by a machine without the former president’s knowledge. Power the Future’s bombshell claims demand answers about who’s been steering America’s energy policy.

Power the Future, a nonprofit championing American energy jobs, alleges that eight executive orders on climate policy—ranging from Arctic drilling bans to net-zero emissions pledges—were enacted without former President Joe Biden’s public acknowledgment, Fox News reported.

These orders, including a 2021 commitment to net-zero federal emissions by 2050 and a late-2025 offshore drilling ban, reshaped energy policy. The group insists a shadowy clique of advisers may have bypassed the president entirely. The controversy centers on the autopen, a device that replicates signatures, which Power the Future claims was used to sign these orders. They found no evidence Biden ever spoke publicly about these policies, raising questions about his awareness. This isn’t just bureaucratic nitpicking—it’s about who holds the reins of power.

Uncovering The Autopen Mystery

“These are not obscure bureaucratic memos; these were foundational shifts in American energy policy,” said Daniel Turner, Power the Future’s founder, in a sharp rebuke. He’s not wrong—banning drilling and mandating “clean energy” AI centers aren’t small potatoes. Yet, Biden’s silence on these orders is deafening.

The nonprofit fired off letters to the DOJ, EPA, DOI, DOE, and congressional oversight committees, demanding a full investigation. They want to know who drafted these orders, who decided they’d become law, and who authorized the autopen’s use. Transparency shouldn’t be this hard to come by.

Republicans have long raised eyebrows about Biden’s reliance on the autopen, especially amid debates over his mental sharpness in his final years in office. A 2005 Justice Department ruling permits presidents to use autopens for signing bills, but that doesn’t mean it’s a free pass to sidestep accountability. The question lingers: Was Biden in the loop, or was he a figurehead?

Legal Precedents And Political Heat

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley weighed in, noting, “Presidents are allowed to use the autopen, and courts will not presume a dead-hand conspiracy.” But legal or not, the optics are terrible—hundreds of billions funneled to green projects while fossil fuel workers got the short end, all potentially without Biden’s say-so. Actions have consequences, and this smells like a dodge.

In February, the Fourth Circuit ruled that a missing signature doesn’t invalidate a presidential action, like a commutation. Still, Power the Future argues that if Biden didn’t know about these climate orders, their legitimacy is shaky. It’s a bold claim, but one that deserves a closer look.

The issue gained traction after Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s book “Original Sin” questioned Biden’s awareness of his administration’s actions. Power the Future’s letter to House Oversight Chair James Comer pulls no punches, stating that a “small coterie of advisers” may have acted without Biden’s approval. If true, that’s not governance—it’s a power grab.

Policy Shifts Under Scrutiny

“Hundreds of billions of dollars were funneled towards pet green projects,” Turner told Fox News Digital, slamming the administration’s priorities. He’s right to call out the imbalance—punishing fossil fuel industries while propping up green initiatives isn’t just policy, it’s ideology. And if Biden didn’t sign off, who did?

House Speaker Mike Johnson added fuel to the fire, recalling a January meeting where Biden seemed unaware of an order pausing LNG exports. For a president to forget a major energy decision is troubling enough; for him to never know about it is a crisis. The American people deserve better.

Power the Future’s letter to Congress demands clarity: “Congress deserves to know how or whether these executive actions were authorized.” It’s a fair ask—voters elect a president, not a faceless bureaucracy. If staffers were calling the shots, that’s a betrayal of trust.

Calls For Accountability

“This autopen scandal is evidence that these green EOs are invalid,” Turner declared, urging the DOJ to investigate. His call for justice resonates with those tired of unelected elites pushing agendas. But will the DOJ bite, or will this be swept under the rug?

Fox News Digital reached out to Biden’s office, but—surprise, surprise—got no response. Silence from the top only fuels suspicion that something’s amiss. If there’s nothing to hide, why the radio silence?

The Heritage Foundation’s report alleging most of Biden’s documents were autopen-signed adds weight to Power the Future’s claims. While presidents can legally use autopens, the scale here, especially for transformative climate policies, raises red flags. It’s time for Congress to dig in and get answers.
