World-renowned genius speaks openly about Christian belief

In a viral moment that sparked intense online conversation, a South Korean scientist with a verified record-breaking IQ declared his Christian faith publicly on social media.

YoungHoon Kim, believed to have the highest IQ ever recorded at 276, posted on June 17 that he believes in Jesus Christ as God, prompting widespread attention and a wave of viral responses, the Catholic News Agency reported.

Kim, 36, is recognized by several global institutions for his exceptional intellect, including the Giga Society, Mensa, and the World Memory Championships. His cognitive abilities are also acknowledged by the World Memory Sports Council in collaboration with Guinness World Records, as well as by the Official World Record organization.

Online Declaration Sparks Global Discussion

The post that drew the world’s attention appeared on the social platform X, formerly known as Twitter. “As the world’s highest IQ record holder,” Kim wrote, “I believe that Jesus Christ is God, the way, and the truth and the life.”

Within two days, the June 17 post had been viewed 14 million times and liked by over 250,000 users. Thousands of replies and reposts contributed to its viral momentum as users debated, supported, or questioned Kim’s stance.

On June 19, Kim followed up with another message on X: “I will use this opportunity to lead many souls to God.” The scientist connected his platform and influence to what he described as a spiritual mission.

Scientist Cites Logic and Faith Together

Responding to a commenter on the platform, Kim offered a succinct personal affirmation: “Amen. Christ is my logic.” The phrase further fueled discussion about how science and faith intersect in his worldview.

This was not Kim’s first public expression of belief. In February, he posted on X: “God exists. 100%.” That statement, though less viral than his June post, revealed that his religious perspective has been developing or expressed over time.

Kim has frequently discussed concepts that blend scientific inquiry with metaphysical questions. He has asserted his view that human consciousness could involve “quantum information,” which he believes may persist even after physical death.

Scientist Leads Brain Health and AI Initiatives

Beyond his social statements, Kim is an active figure in the scientific and technology communities. He is the founder and CEO of NeuroStory, a brain health organization supported by the South Korean government.

In addition, he launched the United Sigma Intelligence Association, another platform focused on advanced scientific discussion and innovation. His roles include serving on the board of the Lifeboat Foundation, an organization that seeks to propel science forward while guarding against potential threats posed by technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Kim’s wide-ranging interests demonstrate how his scientific background informs his public and philosophical positions. His growing number of online followers has taken interest both in his insights and in the faith-based perspectives he now shares openly.

Faith and Reason Intersect in Broader Discourse

The Catholic Church has long taught that reason alone can lead to a knowledge of God. This view, central to Church doctrine, is found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church under teaching number 36 and was formally defined during the First Vatican Council in the 19th century.

“God, the first principle and last end of all things, can be known with certainty from the created world by the natural light of human reason,” states the Catechism. Similarly, the conciliar document *Dei Filius* affirms that God “can be known with certitude by the natural light of human reason from created things.”

While Kim has not specifically referenced these religious documents, his statements have led many observers to draw connections between traditional teachings on reason and his remarks about logic and belief.

Public Dialogue Continues to Grow

With over 14 million views and global discussion still unfolding, Kim’s posts have continued to garner attention from both faith communities and scientific circles. Some commentators see his declaration as uniting two often-divided spheres: science and spirituality.

Others have used his remarks to reignite discussions about the role of intellect in matters of belief. As one of the most recognized names in the field of cognitive science, Kim’s views are likely to influence future debates and possibly encourage others to speak about their philosophies.

For now, Kim shows no sign of stepping back from the public conversation. His intention, as stated, is to leverage his platform to reach people not only intellectually but also spiritually.
