Ex-Ny Officer Sentenced To Four Life Terms For Quadruple Murder

A former New York police officer, once Jeffrey Epstein’s cellmate, received four life sentences for the brutal 2016 murders of four men.

Nicholas Tartaglione was sentenced for kidnapping and killing four individuals over a financial disagreement stemming from a failed drug deal.

According to the New York Post, Nicholas Tartaglione, then 56, executed a grievous crime that ended in the death of four men in 2016. The sequence of events began ominously at a local bar in Chester, where Martin Luna was deceived into visiting under pretenses.

Tartaglione, who accused Luna of stealing $250,000 intended for a cocaine purchase, assaulted him for more than an hour. The assault culminated in Tartaglione using a zip tie to strangle Luna, ultimately resulting in Luna's death.

But the brutality didn't cease with one victim. To eliminate any potential witnesses to the initial murder, Tartaglione next turned on Luna’s two nephews, Urbano Santiago and Miguel Luna, as well as their friend Hector Gutierrez. All three were executed with a gunshot to the back of their heads.

Grave Discoveries Reveal Horrific Scene

The aftermath of these heinous acts saw the four men buried in shallow graves on Tartaglione's property. This macabre discovery was only made eight months later, revealing the grim extent of the former officer's actions.

The conviction of Tartaglione did not occur until April of the previous year when a federal jury found him guilty of both murder and kidnapping. This late justice was a small solace to the families of the victims who had been left in anguish and uncertainty for years.

During the proceedings of this high-profile case, presided over by U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas, Tartaglione was depicted as a remorseless individual, displaying little to no regard for human life.

Judge and Family Condemn Ex-Cop's Actions

At the sentencing, Judge Karas did not mince words, referring to Tartaglione as a "monster" who appeared to show more compassion for animals than for his human victims. This stern judgment underscored the gravity and cold-blooded nature of the crimes.

Supporting this sentiment, statements from the court proceedings painted a chilling picture. Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, emphasized the ruthless and senseless nature of the murders, particularly criticizing the murder of Martin Luna as an act over mere money.

Celia Luna, the sister of Martin, voiced her enduring grief and dismay in court, comparing Tartaglione's lack of compassion to that of an uncaring street animal, and expressed a fervent hope that he remains incarcerated permanently.

Familiar Name, Unrelated Case Adds Intrigue

Interestingly, Tartaglione's name had been previously entangled with another high-profile inmate, Jeffrey Epstein.

While the cases are unrelated, Tartaglione had briefly been a cellmate of Epstein, during which time there were allegations of mistreatment by Tartagilione.

This element added a layer of public and media scrutiny to Tartaglione's trial, although the crimes he was being judged for stood horrifically on their own merits.

As the dust settles on this tragic case, the community, especially the families of Martin Luna, Urbano Santiago, Miguel Luna, and Hector Gutierrez, begins the long process of healing, knowing that the perpetrator is behind bars, unable to harm others.

Community Reflects and Justice Prevails

While no judicial outcome can restore lives lost, the sentencing of Nicholas Tartaglione to four life sentences marks a significant moment of accountability and offers a measure of closure to a shaken community.

It serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of crimes driven by greed and deceit, especially those committed by someone once sworn to protect and serve.

In conclusion, the grave events of 2016 have now been brought to a full judicial conclusion with Tartaglione's extensive sentencing. His actions, unfathomable to many, will see him spend the remainder of his life in prison, a fact that offers a small relief to the families and community affected by his monstrous deeds.
