Former Vatican Official Excommunicates Supports Trump, Denounces Harris

Carlo Maria Vigano, an excommunicated former Vatican official, has endorsed Donald Trump for the upcoming U.S. presidential election, while harshly criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris.

Calling the election a pivotal moral decision, Vigano described Harris as an "infernal monster" and accused her of obeying Satan, Christian Post reported.

Vigano, who served as the Vatican’s ambassador to the U.S. from 2011 until 2016, was officially excommunicated from the Catholic Church in July this year. He has been a vocal critic of Pope Francis, openly questioning his legitimacy as the Pontiff. His disagreements with the Vatican's current direction have fueled his controversial public statements and political endorsements.

In his recent communication, a letter addressed to American Catholics, Vigano not only supported Trump but positioned him as the sole barrier against what he called a "globalist coup" helmed by the "woke Left." He alleged that this movement poses serious threats to Christian values and the very fabric of America.

Trump as a Defender Against Globalist Agendas

Vigano's support for Trump hinges on his perceived ability to counteract the globalist objectives allegedly advocated by the left wing. He characterizes the upcoming election as a battle, not merely of politics but of moral and spiritual significance. Trump is portrayed as a protector of religious values against a society Vigano claims would be "anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, and anti-human."

He specifically targets Kamala Harris in his letter, referring to her as controlled by figures like former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and financier George Soros, whom he accuses of harboring "satanic hatred against Our Lord Jesus Christ." This framing casts the election in almost apocalyptic terms, suggesting that to vote against Trump is to side with evil.

Harris is singled out by Vigano as a focal point of what he perceives to be a wider moral decay supported by her political allies. He goes further to mark voting for Harris as a grave sin and morally inadmissible for Catholics.

Vigano's Dire Warnings to U.S. Catholics

In his fervent plea to voters, Vigano views choosing Trump as a "moral duty," necessary to defend Christian teachings and reject the societal vision offered by Harris and her supporters. He dramatically concludes that abstaining from voting or choosing Harris would equate to allying with anti-Christian forces.

Vigano's arguments extend beyond political figures to cultural issues, including what he describes as "woke" ideology permeating public schools in the U.S., which he claims are becoming "dens of indoctrination and corruption." His comments resonate with a certain segment of the U.S. Catholic population, reflecting wider cultural and spiritual anxieties.

A survey conducted by Pew Research Center shows a split within the Catholic community, with 52% favoring Trump and 47% leaning towards Harris. This division underscores the complex and often contentious role of religion in American politics.

Cultural and Ideological Battles Ahead of Elections

Vigano's critique extends to societal issues he believes are rooted in secular and liberal agendas, particularly sex education and cultural ideologies that contrast sharply with traditional Christian values. His intense focus on these issues seeks to galvanize conservative religious voters by framing the election as a referendum on moral and cultural direction.

The former archbishop's communication is filled with dramatic language and stark dichotomies between good and evil, casting Trump as a beleaguered hero facing down the "deep state" and Harris as a malevolent figure undermining Christian values. This narrative is meant to rally a base of voters who view the cultural stakes as existential.

Vigano concludes his letter by urging American Catholics to vote vigorously for Trump and to pray for divine guidance in the election, highlighting the spiritual dimensions he attributes to the political choice. His message not only seeks to influence the election outcome but also to shape the perception of the U.S.' political conflicts as fundamentally spiritual warfare.

Religious Overtones in Political Endorsements

The articulation of such a viewpoint from a former high-ranking church official, though now excommunicated, is unprecedented and highlights the ongoing tensions within the Catholic Church about its role and voice in secular affairs. Vigano's bold statements challenge the boundaries between religious advocacy and political endorsement.

As the election approaches, the impact of Vigano’s controversial endorsement on Catholic voters remains to be seen, but it is clear that the intersection of politics and faith continues to provoke intense debate and division among American Catholics and the broader electorate.

With religious and cultural identity so tightly interwoven into the fabric of political discourse, figures like Vigano help to illuminate the profound complexities and passionate divides that characterize the modern American political and spiritual landscape.
