Michelle Obama shows toned abs in crop top while hugging Kylie Kelce

Michelle Obama, 62, flashed a flat midsection in a red crop top on Instagram while hugging Kylie Kelce, another polished look at the former first lady’s fitness brand.

In a short clip shared to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, October 15, the former first lady appeared in a red-and-white striped crop top and burgundy striped pants. As she moved in to hug guest Kylie Kelce, the video put her toned abs on display, a Yahoo Entertainment report described.

Brother and IMO podcast co-host Craig Robinson was in the frame as well. The moment was pure lifestyle packaging: a former White House resident, still treated as a wellness authority, giving followers a staged glimpse of the results.

A related photo tied to opening day of the 2023 U.S. Open in New York City, dated August 28, 2023, showed Obama with Robinson and Kelce. The new Stories video kept the same circle in view and the same message in focus, discipline, image, and control.

Solidcore, long planks, and the Megaformer grind

Obama has long sold hard work in the gym as part of her public identity. On the IMO podcast she walked through Solidcore, the high-intensity, low-impact reformer-style class built around a Megaformer machine.

She did not soften the description.

"It's a reformer kind of class, but it's more intense."

She added the kind of detail that makes the pitch sound grueling on purpose.

"You're on the Megaformer, and let's say you hold a plank, but you're gonna hold it for three minutes. And then they're gonna have you crunch in from the holding position, and small little movements...and you're sweating your butt off."

She said she used the method while still in the White House, when the founder was getting it started in Washington, D.C., and called the early setting “a military kind of situation.” Rapper Megan Thee Stallion, appearing on IMO, said she had gotten into Pilates and wanted Solidcore in New York.

That is the circuit Obama’s brand prefers to show: elite studios, timed planks, and a former first lady still presenting herself as the model of controlled living. Public events still draw the same curated attention, including when Michelle Obama packed an Erie arena for a sold-out talk on character and dignity.

Trainer: classes, SoulCycle, and keeping the body guessing

After the Obamas left the White House in 2017, longtime trainer Cornell McClellan told People her routine opened up. Classes that were harder to schedule in office became easier. She could get outside. She could be social with the workout.

"She's been able to do some of the classes that weren't as convenient when they were in office. She can do sociable things and get outside. She loves SoulCycle."

McClellan said the work with Michelle and President Barack Obama mixes tools on purpose, weights, kettlebells, bands, tubes, and TRX, “to keep the body guessing.” The method is variety, not a single fad machine.

Obama’s own food rule, given to Women’s Health, matched the same theme of managed choice rather than total denial.

"My whole thing is moderation. If I make good, healthy choices most of the time, then having what I love every once in a while won't hurt."

She has also said that if she ignores both exercise and balanced eating, the weight comes back. Personal responsibility, in her telling, is non-negotiable.

Let’s Move! fame and a permanent wellness spotlight

None of this sits outside politics. As first lady she launched the Let’s Move! campaign to fight childhood obesity and hosted events on healthy eating and activity. Toned arms became a running media subplot while she still lived in the White House. Years later, a crop-top Stories clip still reads as an extension of that same project: health as message, body as proof.

She has used personal history before to steer a larger narrative, including when she disclosed IVF and miscarriage in a memoir and turned private pain into public argument. Fitness content works the same channel, intimate enough to feel human, polished enough to stay on brand.

The political machine around her has not gone quiet either. Her orbit still organizes and recruits, including a voter initiative aimed at Gen Z through TikTok influencers ahead of the 2026 midterms. Image and turnout work different jobs. Both stay active.

Even family-stage comments draw quick reaction, as when she said she does not miss raising her daughters and critics pushed back. The abs video is lighter material. It still feeds the same appetite for Michelle Obama as permanent cultural exhibit.

Craig Robinson’s presence keeps it in-house. Kylie Kelce’s presence keeps it current. The striped crop top supplies the headline. The older Let’s Move! record supplies the halo. Followers get the hug, the midsection, and the familiar lecture on sweat and moderation.

For a political class that never stops advising Americans on how to live, the camera still loves a clean mirror and a tight midriff more than another policy memo.
