Samaritan’s Purse Commits To Extra 20 Armored Ambulances For Israel

In a significant show of solidarity, Reverend Franklin Graham announced the donation of 20 more armored ambulances to Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA), enhancing their capacity to respond to emergencies in conflict-prone areas.

During a heartfelt ceremony, Graham dedicated two new ambulances to MDA along with laying the cornerstone for a new station near the Gaza border, Fox News reported.

The event, held in Israel this Thursday, saw the unveiling of the armored ambulances, donated in memory of three American-Israelis—Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Roi Idan, and Smadar Mor-Idan—who tragically lost their lives in an attack by Hamas. Attendees of the ceremony included notable figures and supporters from various quarters, reflecting a broad base of international support.

Increasing Contributions Amid Ongoing Conflict

Since the conflict’s escalation on October 7, 2023, Samaritan’s Purse has played a pivotal role in bolstering Israel's emergency medical infrastructure. Starting with an initial donation of 14 ambulances this January, after several were destroyed in an October attack, the organization has now contributed a total of 42 ambulances.

“The need is so great, we have just committed to providing 20 more armored ambulances,” stated Graham at the ceremony. His announcement underscored the ongoing demand for well-equipped emergency vehicles due to the area's security challenges.

The armored ambulances are specially designed to navigate the perilous zones close to conflict areas, thereby ensuring quicker and safer medical responses during crises.

New Emergency Stations to Fortify Response Capabilities

During his address, Graham also highlighted the development of a new ambulance station in Avshalom, near the Gaza border. This strategic addition aims to enhance emergency response times in one of the region's most volatile areas.

Another station is set to be developed in Shlomi, situated near Israel’s northern border, framing a comprehensive approach to medical emergencies encompassing various high-risk zones across the nation.

The cornerstone laying of the Avshalom station underscores a significant step in strengthening local emergency services infrastructure, which is crucial for the safety and well-being of area residents and responders alike.

Praise and Appreciation From Local Leaders

“Franklin Graham, welcome to Israel. A true friend of the state of Israel,” proclaimed Gadi Yarkoni, Mayor of the Eshkol Regional Council, during the ceremony. His words echoed the sentiment of many in attendance, illustrating the deep appreciation for Samaritan's Purse's contributions.

Eli Bin, Director General of MDA, expressed mixed feelings due to the ongoing conflict situations that necessitate such donations. “We don’t know if we are happy or sad. We walk around between hope and despair,” Bin articulated, capturing the bittersweet nature of the circumstances.

Despite the challenges, Bin remained optimistic about the future, attributing a significant part of the hope to the support from Samaritan's Purse. “The building of the station is building a bridge between the awful events that happened and a much more hopeful future here,” he said.

A Legacy of Global Humanitarian Efforts

Samaritan’s Purse is not new to global humanitarian campaigns, operating in over 100 countries around the world. Their continued support of Israel’s MDA is part of a broader commitment to provide aid in crises globally.

The organization's mission extends beyond emergency medical assistance, dealing largely with disaster relief, community development, and health and wellness initiatives worldwide. This diverse approach to humanitarian aid allows them to address the complex nature of global crises with nuanced and substantial support.

As Franklin Graham and his organization gear up to deliver these additional 20 ambulances, their dedication to global welfare and emergency readiness remains evident. “The generosity of Reverend Franklin Graham and his organization Samaritan’s Purse knows no bounds,” remarked Bin, summing up the gratitude and respect garnered by Graham’s efforts and the far-reaching impact of Samaritan’s Purse.
