Report: George Soros linked to $80M in funding for controversial activist groups

Billionaire George Soros is under fire for reportedly channeling over $80 million to organizations accused of endorsing violence and extremism in America, as the Daily Caller reports. A bombshell report from the Capital Research Center (CRC) has pulled back the curtain on these financial ties, raising serious questions about the impact of such funding on national stability. Let’s dive into the details with a critical eye, but a fair mind.

The CRC report alleges that Soros, via his Open Society Foundation, has directed tens of millions to groups whose actions or rhetoric align with the FBI’s criteria for domestic terrorism.

That’s a hefty accusation, and it comes at a tense moment as authorities probe potential links between left-wing organizations and the tragic murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University.

Since 2020, the Open Society Foundation has funneled $400,000 to the Center for Third World Organizing (CTWO), a group that proudly claims it “threw down” in the streets during the George Floyd riots. If street chaos is their badge of honor, one wonders what kind of organizing they’re really up to.

Unpacking the network of funded groups

CTWO isn’t a lone player; it’s a hub for radical outfits like the Ruckus Society, whose training materials reportedly endorse tactics that “may be outside of the law.”

Add to that the BlackOUT Collective, part of CTWO’s network, which co-authored a pro-Hamas guide glorifying the Oct. 7 attacks while citing Ruckus Society manuals on property destruction. These connections paint a troubling picture of what this funding might enable.

The financial web widens with $1.85 million from Soros’ foundation to Dream Defenders and a staggering $18 million to Movement for Black Lives, both tied to that same pro-Hamas guide.

Another $200,000 went to Dissenters, also a co-author of the guide and an endorser of the Shut It Down for Palestine coalition. That coalition, by the way, cheers disruptions like highway shutdowns and targeting Israeli arms producers.

Shut It Down for Palestine partners with the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee, which promotes dodging taxes tied to U.S. defense efforts -- a move they don’t shy away from admitting. A spokesperson for the Committee told the Daily Caller News Foundation they “generally agree” with advising activists on avoiding taxes for national security funding. If that’s not a red flag for undermining lawful governance, what is?

More funding, more controversy

The Sunrise Movement, backed by at least $2 million from Open Society, has pushed support for the Stop Cop City/Defend the Atlanta Forest coalition, a group linked to Antifa-associated anarchist actions. Dozens of coalition members face domestic terrorism and racketeering charges for alleged arson, property destruction, and assaults on law enforcement. That’s not exactly the peaceful activism one might expect from well-funded groups.

Sunrise also encouraged donations to the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, which prosecutors claim provided bail, legal defense, and even materials like ammunition and drones. If true, that’s not just support -- it’s enabling. The question looms: where does philanthropy end and complicity begin?

Amidst this financial maze, the Open Society Foundations have pushed back hard against the allegations. “The Open Society Foundations does not fund terrorism,” a spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Our activities are peaceful and lawful, and our grantees are expected to abide by human rights principles and be in compliance with the law.”

Political reactions heat up

That defense might sound reassuring, but it doesn’t erase the paper trail or the troubling actions of some grantees. When millions flow to groups tied to violence or extremism, “lawful” intentions start to feel like a thin shield against accountability. The public deserves clarity, not platitudes.

Political responses are ramping up, with dozens of House Republicans demanding a select committee to investigate the money and influence behind what they see as the radical left’s assault on American values. The tragic loss of Charlie Kirk has only intensified calls for scrutiny. It’s a reasonable ask -- sunlight is the best disinfectant, after all.

President Donald Trump has also weighed in, recently announcing Antifa’s designation as a “major terrorist organization.” His sharp critique of such groups as a danger to the nation isn’t new, but this move signals a hard line against domestic extremism. Whether it curbs the chaos remains to be seen.

Questions that demand answers

Efforts to get comments from CTWO, Ruckus Society, BlackOUT Collective, Dream Defenders, Movement for Black Lives, Dissenters, Sunrise Movement, and the Stop Cop City coalition hit a wall -- none responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation. Shut It Down for Palestine was also unreachable. Silence from so many players only fuels suspicion about their intentions.

This sprawling network of funding and activism, tied to over $80 million from Soros’ foundations, demands a deeper look -- not just for conservatives, but for anyone who values a stable society. While philanthropy can do good, it can also amplify dangerous ideas when unchecked. The line between free speech and incitement isn’t always clear, but it’s one we must draw with care.

As investigations into the murder of Charlie Kirk unfold, the overlap between funded groups and alleged extremism can’t be ignored. America deserves answers about whether this money is building bridges or lighting fuses. Let’s hope the truth comes out before more damage is done.
